Some tour dates for the summer are starting to leak out. One was a festival in Wisconsin I considered going but it was a 12 hour drive so I nixed that idea.
Today I received a call on the mellenphone (similar to the bat phone) telling me some additional dates have been leaked…2 shows (ahem, lwj listen up!) in Toronto at Casino Rama on July 13 and July 14, tickets are $85 each.
Here is info…looks like the casino is offering a presale but I imagine that is for the high rollers? I’m hoping to find out more details tomorrow.

lwj I am seriously considering attending these 2 shows.
Edit to add… membership sign up is free which qualifies one for presale HOWEVER tickets are only sold on site at casino for presale.
Ticket prices START at $85. I knew that was too good to be true at a casino. Not sure where the ticket prices peak for these shows.

Hey Lafayette-Great News. I’m pretty sure I’m in!
I have been to Casino Rama several times for concerts and feeding the penny slots.
Nice theatre style venue-approx. room for 5,000 ( all seats are pretty good viewing), deluxe hotel on site,native run huge Casino.
It’s about 1&1/2 hours North of Toronto at Orillia. Beautiful country.

Seeing a rock band “Collective Soul”, not really my bag but it gives me an excuse to get out of town to visit them.They bought my ticket.
That’s a bummer on box-office pre-sale for a Passport Member like me( once I remember my password -then I can sign up for their monthly e-mail announcements), but I could take a chance and buy my ticket on Apr.30, otherwise it’s a 4 hour drive from where I live to Orillia.
So convince me.

Boy, something happened Lafayette.
I was all set to drive up to Casino Rama today (04/11/2010) for the club member pre-sale and luckily did a last minute check on their web site.
PLEASE NOTE: Casino Rama regrets to announce that by request of the artist, tickets for the John Mellencamp concerts will not go on-sale this Sunday – Tuesday as originally posted.Tickets for these concerts dates will now go on-sale as follows:
On-site Apr. 18
Ticketmaster pre-sale Apr. 19
General Apr. 20
How do I interpret by request of the artist?
Also, on the Ticketmaster web site there is quite a discrepancy in prices.

lwjWOW, not sure what is going on, lwj with those ticket prices.
Interesting the dates were changed on presale. I wonder if it has anything to do with John’s fan club and possibility of presales. At present, it appears JM’s fan club is in transition. My membership has not been renewed, we as fans are being told things are changing, and we just need to hold tight. Maybe they are working the details out for possible presale. Just not sure. I do know the fan club president posted this response after I suggested it looked like a tour was shaping up for summer.
“The July dates (and I am told there will be a handful to go with Cadott WI) will not be many in number and won’t be very much of a tour. Just a little Summer Work so to speak before the bigger tour in the fall.”
Long story short, HA! (now I say that)…if you want to see JM, lwj, the Toronto date is your best bet. I would hope he would make it back to Canada in the fall (he really enjoyed his tour up there a few years ago), but you just never know.
I’m disappointed ticket prices are so very high. JM was a former champion of keeping ticket costs low…not sure if he is losing his way or not.

Further to your details provided by PM ( with thanks), I now see I can have 1st choice of tickets on Apr. 18th at the venue box office. (no fees)
Looks like Club Cherry Bomb’s loyal fans are getting “shafted”.
Their pre-sale date is listed as Apr. 19-same as Ticketmaster pre-sale.
Short show or not I would like to see JM. Wonder if there is an opening artist.
lwjJM’s fan club does work very hard to get best available tix for presale. It doesn’t happen all the time. For instance, he is headlining a festival in WI and the best seats available thru fan club were in row 15 as tickets had already been sold before JM was added to festival.
Casino shows are tricky as well, from what I have been told. You are very lucky you are close to venue to purchase tickets. I just wanted to forewarn you JM’s shows are short, have been ever since he had his heart attack.
GO, lwj, just GO! I will be so jealous, but in a good way !
AND, you never know, I can always change my mind as the show draws closer. 😀I haven’t heard anything about opening artist, but he typically has an opening act.
those ticket prices are way out of line. I have seen JCM many times, a great performer but that is price gouging plain and simple.

I see from Club Cherry Bomb that I, as a non-member can log in to get in on the pre-sale on May 5th.
Still don’t know what the prices are going to be. Any idea?

lwj…I’m glad you saw presale news, you beat me to the punch! Yes, you are able to order presale as a non member, as am I. I’m tentatively a nonmember until some kind of announcement is made regarding fan club renewals.
I have no idea what ticket costs will be but I am going for best seat I can get. It will be my only JM splurge until Farm Aid (if I go) and *fingers crossed* fall tour. My friend was looking into geting a passport, I already have one from years past. She is insisting on staying at the casino as well. I will have to bring my quarters for the slots! I am not a gambler by nature but figured I would feed the slots a bit while I’m there.

By the way, the Windsor Casino probably has penny slots just like the one here at Niagara Falls.
You can’t “feed” most slots with coins now days, you throw in a ten or twenty bill and when you want to “cash out” you get a paper ticket to redeem.lwj

Yup , my purchased 9th row floor centre stage ticket looks good compared to what Ticketmaster is showing now.

Just a reminder that it’s a little more than a month and a half for JM in Windsor.
Almost two years ago to the day on July 18/08 LU and JM were just across the river in Detroit.

lwjFun video indeed ! The only time JM wore his hair long. Some trivia associated with this video and song.
The elderly woman in the beginning of the video is John’s grandmother. The fans referred to her as “Grandma Laura.”
The woman playing John’s love interest is his ex-wife, #2.
I’m sure this video was shot somewhere in Indiana. I’m not sure on exact location, however, I have friends that could provide even more “history” about what’s going on in this video. We’re geeky like that.
The line regarding “Teddi Jo”…his daughter’s name is Teddi Jo. John has two brothers, their names are… Ted and Joe. Joe lives a few miles from me. I’ve run into him from time to time at his son’s gigs, also a musician. Joe is a musician as well. John was a “roadie” for Joe’s gigs, in the early days.
This time period of John’s career was one of my favorites. Thanks for the reminder!
