Hope you got to the charred Gram parsons area of the national park, Tony. Pappy and Harriett’s is great, didn’t see the Lu show there but later talked to proprietor Robin who spoke of that show outdoors, where Lu cut her fee so as to play that great spot. Have seen Anne McCue there, also Sara Petite there twice. Good karma.

I have never seen a show outside Stoger, just inside.

We went to Cap Rock, which is where the burning thing happened. I looked for the spot where it supposedly happened but there was no grafitti or anything. There was an older guy there showing a group of kids around. He tells me that the park service regularly sandblasts the area to remove all the shit people write. He then tells me that this so called memorial site is actually in the wrong place and that the actual burning took place on the other side of the rock but the park service does nothing to correct this since they don’t want the actual site messed with. He had me convinced.

I had Etienne with me and he insisted we go to the Joshua Tree Inn and see where he died. I don’t know what it looked like then but the place has totally gone to seed. The room to his door is painted gold. You could not pay me to stay there.
