Great news…well done the Aussies and N.Z.

    Enjoy punchdrunklove..

All we need now is a major “stopover” in Europe on the way home…

These are difficult times and 2012 is already turning out to be an expensive year, with Elvis Costello in Glasgow, Bruce in Milan,Sunderland and Manchester and hopefully some Lucinda on the way…ahh well will just have to work a few more years yet…but all well worth while..

btw, is this LW’s 2nd tour in australia/NZ?

what (who?) took her there in 1989? i’ve been meaning to ask that. i wouldn’t say it was PREMATURE, but it was definitely very early in her career, and i’d think that an artist would perform in london and paris before venturing in australia. when was the first tour in europe? 00s, or i’m mistaken? (2006, 2007, 2009)

    Some tour statistics I found.
    Australia/ NZ
1989-with Gurf Morlix only at the Gluepot, Auckland
1991-with Rosanne Cash & Mary Chapin Carpenter (SOW tour)
    1993
2004-cancelled due to Lu’s Mother passing.
    2009-Little Honey tour
    2012-coming up
    Europe
    1989-Glastonbury Festival, Netherlands, etc.
    2003-WWT tour
2005-cancelled due to an ear infection
    2006
    2007
    2009

’89 in europe, so never mind. thank you. where did you find this? i basically trusted my (insanely comprehensive) bootleg library, but now i see it’s not that comprehensive after all.

the gap between ’89 and ’03 is interesting, though.

pdl, take a peek at the Lucinda Williams Resource Site under the INFO tab on Lu’s site.
All kinds of good stuff there.

    For example.

    GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL, U.K. – 1989 – BBC-FM – Disgusted / Wild & Blue / Dark Side Of Life / Nothin’ In Ramblin’ / Passionate Kisses ( 18 min.)

BBC RADIO – Something About What Happens When We Talk / Wild & Blue / Sundays / Disgusted

EFFENAAR EINDHOVEN, Holland – FM – 1989 – (30) – ex – I Just Wanted To See You So Bad / Big Red Sun Blues / Am I Too Blue / Crescent City / Wild & Blue / The Night’s Too Long / Something About What Happens When We Talk / Sundays

Also the Eindhoven remaster was supposed to be a bonus on the self-titled release as per below post under records.

Re: Lucinda Williams self titled album UPDATE
… has done his usual stellar job. It will all be mastered by the Grammy winning Gavin Lurssen who did such a fantastic job on West and Little Honey. This little kiwi happy to be going to see Lucinda again – and so soon after the last time! (3 years is very quick turnaround for a gig in New Zealand). I did hang around the forums a fair bit before she last came to NZ, but have been absent (life taking over of course). It’s a bit annoying that they’ve chosen the same venue as last time – seated, with wowser ushers growling anyone who dares to stand, but beggars can’t be choosers 🙂

Also, our son ‘Jackson’ will be 10yo soon, and we’ve decided he can come see Lucinda with us – he’ll be most pleased….

i’d stand up in any given concert.

seated shows: the death of music.

While I prefer to stand as well, I wouldn’t be so dramatic as to say that seated shows represent the “death of music”. As much as I like to stand right up front, sometimes my back & knees will not permit it.

Perhaps you, too, will have a different perspective, PDL, once you are in your fifties & beyond… 😉 😆

i woke up feeling like fukuyama today. everything’s the end of everything. maybe the heat’s to blame. we’re suffering here.

but i understand your point of view. and gotta apologize anticipatedly for being such a disruptive force in seated shows. must be the hot climate.
