InactiveI’m listening to Just Us Kids by James McMurtry. Good stuff.
I saw Mudcrutch in Santa Barbara recently. It was a good show. Great album for sure.

InactiveSweetheart of the Neighborhood by the Dedringers is my new favoriite record, for now anyway. They are from Austin, TX, and are touring with James McMurtry and Hayes Carll. I saw them with McMurtry at the Troubadour in West Hollywood last month and will see them again in October opening for Hayes Carll.

ParticipantI can’t stop listening to Amy Winehouse. She is really brilliant, and a great writer, too.
Lu, Amy and Aretha are the most soulful singers alive today.

I agree – I love her voice.
It’s a shame, though, that she has the personal problems she does. Seems like such a waste.
And, it’s a bigger shame the d@mn media won’t leave her alone about it all. Despite all the perks, it must really suck to be famous these days…

ParticipantPreordered Zac Brown Band new CD and you can download the CD after order, and also get a 10 track live set from Chicago Blues Club, well worth taking a listen, they would be fun to see. Good song writing IMO.

ParticipantBob Dylan – Tell Tale Signs (The Bootleg Series Vol. 8…Rare and Unreleased 1989-2006).
Have had this for about a week and haven’t gotten past track 8 on disc 1 because of multiple replays.
Just when I’m ready to give Bob a rest, he puts out a bunch of “rejects” that re-enchants me. “Red River Shore” is a masterpiece, imho.October 15, 2008 at 5:28 pm #32172parkerca
Participant“Red River Shore” is fantastic. I can’t believe that hasn’t been released sooner, but then again it is Dylan we are talking about.
How about “Can’t Wait” on disc 1? I like it more than the album released version.October 15, 2008 at 5:55 pm #32174Lefty
ParticipantSo far, it all sounds good to me, parker
I can imagine Lucinda singing “Born in Time” 8)October 15, 2008 at 6:03 pm #32175parkerca
ParticipantYeah, that would be cool. Ring them bells would be cool too.
Did you buy the 3 disc set? I couldn’t justify buying that. I’ll just wait for a genuine bootleg copy. hahaOctober 15, 2008 at 6:17 pm #32173Lefty
ParticipantNo, I didn’t splurge. Settled for the 2 discs. Bob makes enough $$ off me!
October 16, 2008 at 12:41 am #32176parkerca
ParticipantDylan gets tons of cash from me each year also. I pay more to bob than I do taxes.
It’s worth it though. I try to go to at least 2 shows a year. It gets expensive but he’s not going to be around forever. The shows aren’t nearly as good as the 1999-2002 shows. The set lists were awesome and so were the musicians.Have you heard when Chronicles vol 2 is coming out? Getting “Tell Tale Signs” got me in the mood to read Chronicles vol 1 again.

ParticipantHaven’t heard anything about Chronicles #2. Something tells me it’s going to be a while; hope I’m wrong.
