Actually, the Dayton show on the 27th is very near me as well, that’s a possiblity, however, I assume that is the other sold out show you posted? Canal Street Tavern,
Hey Lafayete.
You are correct. I said Cincy instead of Dayton.
I saw the sold out comment on one of the recent You Tube vodeos.
You never know, why not call the Canal Street Tavern. On their web site, just says $15.00 at the door. Here is another link to a short interview and 2 live performances in front of a very small (intimate ) audience.

December 28, 2009 at 2:52 am #36792LafayetteParticipantLWJ, in regards to Dayton, the HB website had tickets to this gig as a preorder. Its frustrating knowing they were at two venues near me and the timing just didn’t work out for me to see them. Bengals game today, we pulled it out in the end, won, AFC champs headed to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years ! It’s been a squeaker of a season, and unless they step up their play, it will be one and out in playoffs, but it doesn’t matter, we’re in post season play, and I plan on shouting WHO DEY in a freezing stadium at a home game in early January!
Back to HB, WNKU 89.7 has a Top 89 album countdown every year. Last year Lu’s “Little Honey” was voted as #1 by the fans. This year, Heartless Bastards “The Mountain” is eligible for voting, and my bottom dollar has them in the top 5 if not number one. Voting ends tomorrow, Monday Dec 28th, at midnight. Also, Tim Easton’s “Porcupine” is eligble as well. All the details are here at this link with the winners counted down on Jan 1.

Congrats on the Bengals win and Lafayette, do you also own a pair of WHO DEY sneakers like these?
I’m looking at the WNKU song list for 2009 before I vote. What a huge list to narrow down to 5 choices. Wasn’t this the same station you volunteer on?

December 29, 2009 at 4:39 am #36794LafayetteParticipantNow those are some cool shoes! I don’t own a pair of those shoes, however, I do have some Who-Dey collectible beer cans (a take on a former local beer, Hudepohl or Hudy for short, which was some really nasty stuff), unopened, from our 1988 season when we went to Super Bowl. Does that count?
Yes, WNKU is the radio station where I volunteer.

To whet your appetite, here is a preview of what we are going to be treated to.
The Mountain on PBS. Watch it in full screen.http://video.pbs.org/video/1362999237/

January 5, 2010 at 8:43 pm #36796LafayetteParticipantI was very surprised HB didn’t make it into the top 5 on WNKU’s Top 89 albums ofthe year list. However, they did secure the #10 spot.

Spotty Snow Showers/Flurries Continue
Bengals Today 4:30PM
23F, Wind NW 7-12mph,
WChill 5F – 15F, Flurries
Temperatures did not drop at all overnight and as a result many locations are at the same temperature or a bit warmer than last evening.
That’s good news because tailgaters will not be as cold as I originally thought.
Look for a high temperature around 25F today about the same at game time.Enjoy the game.
By the way, there are 4 or 5 You Tube videos just posted on the HB’s recent gig at the Southgate House. Not the best quality however.
lwjJanuary 9, 2010 at 5:40 pm #36798LafayetteParticipantThank, you, lwj for the weather update. My DH just went out for a toasty toes 10 pack and I’ll take every degree warmer Mother Nature will provide.
I’m hoping for a win, but not counting on it. If this team played as they did against Pittsburgh earlier in the season, I would be convinced we could pull it off, however, as of late, they just haven’t had game. NONETHELESS, I’m headed to Paul Brown Stadium to watch the Bengals in a playoff game. I also quoted some wrong statistics earlier too. I had a DUH moment. The Bengals were in a wildcard playoff game against Pittsburgh in 2006, when early in the game, Carson Palmer suffered a serious knee injury. I should remember, I was at that game! We lost.
Look for a lot of handoffs to Cedric Benson and a lot of boos from the crowd wanting Ocho Cinco for the receive.
WHO DEY! I’ll check out the HB videos later!

Yesterday’s game may want you to cry in your beer Lafayette
Shayne Graham missing the field goals didn’t help, but it looks like from watching the game everyone had a lot of fun.
So, here are some memories of Hudy.

January 11, 2010 at 2:07 am #36800LafayetteParticipantThat’s funny stuff lwj, the Hudy video, that is.
I wasn’t surprised at the outcome of the game, but yeah, we had some choice words after Shayne Graham missed those two short range field goals and Palmer just couldn’t make any completions. There is something going on with Palmer, he typically is a stellar quarterback, but the past 5 or 6 games he has struggled.
We had fun. My brother was texting me during the game, telling me the crowd, at least in the beginning, sounded loud !
BTW…i watched short clips of the HB at Southgate House. You’re right, sound quality was terrible, however, Erika was kicking it with her performance! I regret I had to miss this performance. Hoping to catch them in 2010.

I thought Cinci beer was only brewed in “Cinci’ .[attachment=0:3umshaul]Beer-cans.jpg[/attachment:3umshaul]Wrong, I remember my Dad drinking this stuff from British American Brewing Co. located across the river from Detroit in Windsor, ON. Brewery is long gone just like Hudy.
Sorta off the HB’s topic, but thought you would enjoy this one.

Lafayette, I was just checking the PBS schedule for this show.
I have satellite TV and get my PBS signal from Detroit.
It indeed shows HB’s Austin City Limits airing on Jan. 23rd at midnight.
You might want to check with your friends at WNKU for the Cincinnati airing, as I couldn’t see it listed on PBS WCET for Jan.23rd. ( Failing that, maybe Lefty could find out for you. )I’ll be posting a report on the show.
By the way, has anyone on this Forum ever been to a live tapeing at ACL?
What was it like?lwj
