This rare acoustic performance/interview from the HB’s will make you sit up and listen.
Leadwoman Erika Wennerstrom wears her heart on her sleeve and leaves the room breathless.
    Enjoy all you-scally-wags.
    Love the ending.

p.s. But also, if you click on the album covers you can hear in full all the HB’s music including Live at Lollapalooza 2007 and Live at ACL 2007.
    I. don’t feel bad listening to all this free music (and it’s all from the HB’s own My Space site) as I have purchased all their albums before, but hearing the live gigs is a treat.

    Hey Y’all,

We hope your year is off to a good start. We’ve been working on songs for the new album, and are happy to announce our upcoming tour which includes some headline dates as well as shows opening for Drive By Truckers. We’ll be playing all the new material on the road to get it ready to record as soon as we get home. We’re pretty darn excited. It’s been a good while since The Mountain was released, and we are really looking forward to getting some new songs out there for everyone to hear. We hope to see you out on the road, and if we’re not coming through your area on this tour, we hope to catch you on the next run.
    Tour Dates:
    Starting 01-27-2011
Lambert’s Austin, TX Erika solo with Amy Cook
    Thank you.
    Erika

Hope for some good You Tubes of their new songs.

The Heartless Bastards start their tour today in Denton, TX at Dan’s Silverleaf Club.

In the meantime, last summer drummer Dave Colvin produced a record for a new artist from Austin, by the name of Wil Cope.
Jesse E. and Erika W. participated on the new album called Sunset Craves.
Erika does back up harmony on some songs including Mirror in her Heart.
here is some info on the album.

Wil Cope is an American folk musician and artist, both intimate and free. Son of a farrier, a constant traveler, washer of dishes and writer of songs, his debut album “Sunset Craves” harbors the sounds and images of the desert, the ocean, small town ghettos, farms and freeways. Recorded in Austin, Texas in 2010 and exceptionally produced by Heartless Bastards drummer David Colvin, the album is heavily influenced and comparable to Neil Young, Gram Parsons and Townes Van Zandt. Featuring Colvin on drums, Erika Wennerstrom of the Heartless Bastards on stunning backup vocals as well as Jesse Ebaugh of Heartless Bastards on some westward steel guitar, the album gives the listener a feeling of a long respected kinship. You can press play and hear sounds that are as genuine and familiar as an old car radio. Like catching a glimpse from the corner of your eye, and when you turn, there is nothing there but a good feeling. A memory you love to revisit time and time again, comforting, warm and true.

From this link if you click on audio you can hear some songs from Wil’s album.

Lefty-seems to be a new one.
I loved Erika’s guitar sound and the ending really rocks out.
If this is a sample of the new stuff then it looks like a great follow up to the Mountain.
If only we can get them to tour to upstate NY and Ontario.

p.s Here is a newsletter I just received yesterday from the HB’s.
    Hey Everyone,

Tour has been going great. All the shows with the Drive By Truckers have been going well. We’ve had a great response from the new songs, and can’t wait to head into the studio when we get back. We’re off to Santa Cruz for this evenings show. I’m looking forward to the smell of salt in the air ocean side for however brief it may be. If we didn’t hit your town or somewhere in the vicinity on this tour then we will be sure to when the new album comes out. We’ve added Bellingham, WA to the tour and all the remaining dates are listed below. We hope to see you all on the tour or sometime soon.

    Take care.
