I unfortunately missed all of the Friday night events. Youtube to the rescue.

Certainly a special Heartless Bastards weekend for us cheerleaders between Jimmy Kimmel Live and ACL.
The ACL show appearing with Avett Brothers ( which I enjoyed as well ) is now available on PBS in case anyone missed Saturday’s performance.
My favorites were the acoustic guitar with Erika and Jessie and Zy Lyn on violin doing “So Quiet” and the rocker “Sway”
The ACL show ended with a short interview.
There is a 2nd somewhat comical interview called free beer following the performance that I’m going to re-post here since we just saw the show.

No You Tube low quality this time for Erika and the Heartless Bastards.

Here is a 26 minute Concert / Interview that was aired last night on PBS WHYY in Philadelphia.
The HB’s opened for Wolfmother Nov. 6/09 at the Electric Factory.
The concert is interspersed with interviews from Erika. Even includes some of her family photos. “Syracuse Lefty”, you think Erika is cute now, you should see her photo as a little girl on the video.
Great guitar riffs with Jesse and Mark and the last song is “Gray”-one of my favorites. I don’t think you can find faster guitar picking than Erika on this one.

    Here we go.

The Hb’s are on the road again, this time with Amy Cook opening.
Here is their 2010 schedule so far. Can’t wait for further details for the East Coast tour.

    Hey Everyone,
Hope early 2010 is treating you well. We are definitely ready to get back on the road. You’ll see below that we’re playing Shreveport and Houston this week, then board a plane Saturday, headed to Cork, Ireland. We’ll be in Ireland, The UK, France & Spain touring with Brendan Benson . You can get show/ticket info below.

After Europe, we’ll take a few weeks off and then head out to the West Coast. We were offered so many great support tours last year, we couldn’t say no – so this will be our first headline tour since The Mountain was released. The full tour line up is still being worked out, we’ll announce it on our websites soon. Our friend & talented musician Amy Cook will be on the road with us, she’ll open each night, and she’ll sing harmonies with me (Erika) on “Could Be So Happy” . The plan is to find a way to play every song, as it is on the record, or come damn close.

We’ll soon announce an East Coast tour as well, details will be in the next e-blast. We will be bringing great new t-shirt designs on tour, we’ll let you know as soon as they’re available in the webstore. We are excited to announce the first ever pressing of Stairs & Elevators on vinyl is now in our webstore. We pressed it on 180 gram, the fancy gatefold packaging contains a hand written lyric sheet. The first several boxes of the album are signed and there’s only a few of those left! So order now!

We are repressing All This Time on vinyl right now, the 1st pressing was on white vinyl, and the new pressing will be on black 180 gram. It will be in the store very soon.

We hope to see you all out on the road.

    Take care,

    Erika, Jesse, Dave, and Mark

We could probably start another poll as to how many singers have been compared to Lucinda.
Here is a nice quote from Luxury Wafers Sessions on Erika.

    Quote:
In Hold Your Head High, a raging alt-country rocker, Wennerstrom lets loose with cocky, whiskey-laden self-assurance. Her songwriting and slurred, gritty, howling, blurry screech is the sister of Lucinda Williams, with whom she toured in years past. Out At Sea sears, a thematically dense, epic rock track. Sway bounces along, breaking to Joplinesque choruses underscored by deep-digging bass.
No doubt Erika Wennerstrom remains the delicate bud of earthy megastar. I have the feeling that, like Lucinda, she’ll be around for a good long time, unfolding petals before devoted audiences who’d readily tear their hearts out for a taste of Heartless Bastard.
    End quote
Here is the full article plus the in-studio performance of the Mountain.

We’ve got some amazing new merch designs thanks to the talented Mishka Westell. So stop by the merch booth to check out our cool new t-shirt options, along with a new silkscreen poster, we’ve printed only printed a few hundred, so get one before they’re gone. If you can’t wait for a show don’t worry – our new webstore will be up very soon with all the new items – as always sale items are available while supplies last.
    End Quote.
No go yet for Syracuse or Canada.
Seems the lucky ones on this Forum are tntracy and Lafayette with Erika in Atlanta on July 6 and in Lexington, KY on July 21.
Although, Detroit on July 23rd is a possibility for me( 4 hr. drive)
This post will still keep the HB’s at the top of the heap.

For Lefty and all other HB fans, this next video eliminates the Cat Power bangs.
This is a full 40 minute DVD quality of Erika and the HB’s recorded at the Casbah in San Diego on May 1st.
Dave’s drumset is sporting new artwork and the last 3 songs has a violin accompanyment.

Lefty, y’all have to fly to Austin to see her or go to your record shop at the Carousel Mall to buy her new CD whenever it comes out cause it looks like Syracuse is “Everybody knows this is Nowhere” as far as upstate NY goes for their tour.
Enjoy the video and this will bring them back to the top of the heap once again..

And just a friendly reminder to tntracy and Lafayette, especially since you have both personally met Erika at First Avenue last Sept. ( sorry again Lefty-no up-state NY on the horizon. )

July 6 The Masquerade Atlanta, GA TX $13.50
July 21 Cosmic Charlies Lexington, KY tickets not on sale yet
And for me July 22 Beachland Ballroom Cleveland, OH TX $13.00 ( Why I can even arrive by car ferry from Leamington, ON to Sandusky, OH and on to Cleveland. )

    Gotta love those ticket prices.
