This venue in a converted mill in a small unincorporated town looks great for a 2 night stint.
I am looking forward to FF member vmorris and others reports.
A little birdie told me that tonight’s show will be special indeed. ( hint First Ave.)
The metal firecracker bus has arrived.[attachment=0:2uh3btls]Metal Firecracker in NC.jpg[/attachment:2uh3btls]

I won’t be at the two NC shows, but I’m still trying to figure out lwj’s cryptic comparison with First. AVe.

Oh yeah. I feel like a dullard, Paul. It was this time of year that we gathered in the Twin-Cities in ’09, wasn’t it? Perhaps it’s the lingering 90 degree weather here in TN which had me thinking not about autumn at all.

We had room for another dullard. Welcome to the club. 😆

The response from the Haw River Ballroom owner to a quick email I sent last week for anniversary # 4 reminder.

you are so sweet – yes we are aware of the special date and have plans in action! We love her too and are so thrilled to have her coming – both nights will be sold out – really fun.

Take Care ( insert lwjetta name ) – Heather

Such an amazing show tonight. Lucinda took us on a beautiful journey. “Plans to Marry” was a singular live music experience, and I felt like we were all worshipping at a tent revival at the Church of Lucinda. Fabulous sound and venue. One story and one observation: First, I was speaking with a guy toward the front and we figured out that we had both been at Lucinda’s show in Charlotte a while back (the venue was a converted and deconsecreated church — so perfect!) and he, in complete sincerity, said that that show is what finally got him through a difficult personal crisis and transition (I won’t share the specifics here). He cried through the show and was just over his pain afterwards. I recall that “Unsuffer Me” was particularly powerful that night. His story did not strike me as hyperbole or drunk talk… he was totally serious and genuine, and that’s what I love about Lucinda’s lyrics and music. It can take us in and help us heal and sort of fully participate in our humanity — good, bad, ugly, beautiful. Second, my observation is that it seems there are alot of folks who go to Lucinda shows solo, more than most concerts I go to (and I go to alot). I personally go alone to about half of Lu’s shows for one reason or another and I always meet others who are there solo. I think this speaks volumes about how meaningful her shows and music are on a visceral and personal level — it’s not just a social event with friends… it is that, but not just that. We go to experience the songs and the emotions and we don’t need an entourage to do that. So, thank you, Lucinda! See you tomorrow! VMo (p.s. The Kenneth Brian Band just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER every time I see them!)

This is well said, v. thanks for the report, and I haven’t heard “Plan to Marry” since the wedding. As for LWJ being deemed “sweet” by a club owner, WHAT’S UP WITH THAT??? Aren’t Canadians supposed to be salty and pepperish? [Just kidding, my Fran’s and Massey Hall friend]

Ah yes my friend stoger I remember the Massey Hall co-billing with Levon Helm like yesterday and I was pleased to get a reply to my email from the Haw River Ballrom’s owner.
There are lots of photos from last night’s show on the Haw River Ballroom facebook page including this one-I’ll call it a reference to song # 5 from the S/T “Like a Rose”-all donated by a local florist in Saxahapaw.

Happy Anniversary @happywoman9 & Tom! Our local @Saxapahaw flower farmer brought these in for you!
