The line-up is out for this years HSB festival and it looks to be another great three days of music in Golden Gate Park.

Heading down for all three days again this year and there are several bands I’m excited to see…
Tony Jo White, Time Jumpers, Rodney Crowell w Emmylou and The Blind Boys of Alabama to start with.
Steve Earl as well as Buddy Miller’s Cavalcade Of Stars Featuring: Jim Lauderdale, Donnie Fritts & John Paul White, Tony Joe White, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, Scott Miller & The Commonwealth’s Ladies Auxiliary are also are shows I’ll be at.

Wish Lu was at this one, but I believe Tom said it was customary to do every other year for most artists, so I’m hopeful this is on next years agenda already.

I’m pasting the list of performers, if anyone has suggestions on who to see they would be welcomed! -Mike

In the words of WestWords, not only is HSB free, but “you can bring in a cooler full of beer!” What an amazing line-up. Mike, Aside from the obvious draws, I would hit Anderson East (saw him open for Brandi Carlile recently) and also the bands that I see fairly regularly locally (meaning in the Chapel Hill/Durham area): Milk Carton Kids, Mandolin Orange and Chatham County Line. I would also be front and center for Jamey Johnson and M. Ward. Have fun and don’t hold back on a full report for the FF! Viv

Thanks for the recommendations, viv. From the clips and links to the artists they look to be great ones. The Milk Carton kids and M Ward are now high on my list. I will report back.. a lot of great music from the festival is also live streamed (Lucinda was last year)! Looking forward to three days of great music!

Great reccomendations viv… saw most of them!
Loved The Milk Carton Kids and the Chatham County Line..
Lots of tough choices as usual with the different stages. Went to see M Ward, Conner Oberst w The Felice Bros at The Fillmore.. excellent show that helped free me up for other shows at the festival.

Boz Scaggs show was really excellent as was T Bone Burnett’s and Emmylou and Rodney Crowell’s.. (who opened with Lucinda’s I just wanna see you so bad) The absolute find of the festival, for me, was the last band I saw The Dustbowl Revival.. little difficult to describe.. but what a great live band to see (had me at an amazing You Can’t Always Get What You Want cover…) Researching them afterwards I found that they were voted Best live Band in LA somewhere.. and I can see why. Also stumbled across a video that did with Dick Van Dyke of all people that was pretty fun.. definitely will keep an eye out to catch them live again..

    The Dick Van Dyke vid…
