Listen to Lucinda along with the original song by Skip James from 1931.

    Hey, tonyg you are right.
I made a fast assumption from the year.
I think these are the band members in the video which would be nice to see in its entirety.

Lucinda Williams – Hard Time Killing Floor Blues

Lucinda Williams (guitar, vocal); Phil Parlapiano (accordion); Taras Prodanius, Bo Ramsey (guitar); Doug Pettibone (vocal, bass); Don Heffington (drums).

    A little more info.
Lu did the song again at Radio City Music Hall on Mar. 23, 2007 which was opened by the Heartless Bastards.

    QUOTE”
She threw us three more West songs. They were very good, but I was surprised at this point that the new album was so strongly represented. And the last song was not a big hit. I was going to be unhappy, but then she explained. They ended with a Skip James song, an old blues cover that I had never heard before. Lucinda explained that this was a tune she had performed in Brooklyn at St. Anne’s church many years ago for the director Wim Wenders’ chapter in the Martin Scorcese-produced PBS documentary on the Blues. The song appeared in the documentary, but not in its entirety, and did not make it to the soundtrack that was released on disc. That’s a shame because, I’ll tell you, “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues” was the coup de grace, a slow-rolling rocker that was just phenomenal, punctuated by some band solos, and a throbbing humming that the audience joined in on. “
    END QUOTE”
The show in Brooklyn on Nov. 9, 2001 was called “A Celebration of the Mississippi Hill Country”
I guess this is why there is only a short clip of the video posted above.
Might a well throw in a pic of Erika W. of the HB’s and Lu from Radio City.[attachment=0:24k3tpnx]Erika and LW Radio City Music Hall.jpg[/attachment:24k3tpnx]
If ever Lu does a blues album, this song must be in it.

While it indeed did not make the “major” 5-CD box set / soundtrack for the PBS series, Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey (which I have & highly recommend, BTW), it was released on The Soul Of A Man – A Film By Wim Wenders, one of many single “companion” CDs released as part of the “Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues” franchise. As you can see from the link, it is the third track…
