I don’t know not where this should be posted, but it seems appropriate for Lu’s FF… Flannery O’Connor was born on this day in 1925. Two of my favorite Flannery quotes provide food for thought, along the lines of Lu’s lyrics:
“There is a question whether faith can or is supposed to be emotionally satisfying. I must say that the thought of everyone lolling about in an emotionally satisfying faith is repugnant to me.”
“The operation of the Church is entirely set up for the sinner; which creates much misunderstanding among the smug.”
Flannery was always the boss.
“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” [James 2:26, NKJV] 🙂
As for that second quote, everyone who walks the earth is a sinner, even the smug! Some get it, and some don’t. 🙂
