Back from Cologne. F***in’ good show!!! I knew from the false start of the first song on that the night would be very special, and it was! Lucinda got better and better from song to song, the band’s so tight… Wonderful! The encore part seemed to be, again, what has been described before as a complete 2nd set! Not sure when exactly the show began (9PM was announced, I think they came on stage with a little delay) but we got somewhat like 2 1/2 hours of music at its best…
And I agree on what has been said before here, too, the two guitarists are both great great great and play together perfectly… Best moments for me were when Lu joined in on 3rd electric guitar…
Looking forward for Paris… 😀

Lucinda’s concert in Hamburg must be a disappointment when I believe in this review (in German):

http://www.abendblatt.de/daten/2007/11/08/814027.htmlquite frankly, i found it disappointing too. not because they didn’t play well or weren’t in a good mood or something, because they were, as it seemed, but i found the song selection quite tedious. and the playing of the drummer was unfitting (at least in the front it sounded, as if his aim was to destroy the songs – then again, they had sound problems in the beginning… and later they rocked hard, so, i guess, it was fitting for that purpose; during the encore it sounded alright)
now go and hate me.
i still love lucinda.
and the crowd seemed pleased. i found it sad really, when she went at one point “i cannot be a folk singer anymore, because people want me to rock out”, or something between those lines.
it’s not that i expected her to play only songs like “blue”, “i envy the wind” or “ventura”, but some more variety would have been nice. and i wish they would have used that lovely looking pedal steel, at least once. same goes for the cello.one thing i learned, i won’t have a look at setlists anymore (i even tried to not look at it that night – but it was so tempting)… ’cause according to the setlist it could have been a brilliant night.
well, maybe i expected too much after the wonderful show in the same place in 2003 (and in berlin, the following night).
