“We do not hold back an allotment of tickets for public on-sale. All tickets are available for purchase during our presale. Should a program completely sell out during our American Express presale period, no further tickets will be released.”

KeymasterAlways a huge pain in the ass getting tickets to a Grammy Museum event. But worth it. Says me. 8)

KeymasterIt sold out in one-billionth of a second. Fuck. 👿
p.s. I guess the censor doesn’t know that word lol.

ParticipantI read the one censored post and thought it was back in operational order until I read your reply. Sorry, Tony, I really LOL at your expense. Perhaps a ticket fairy will come through for you.

KeymasterWhat’s funny, in a tragic way, is I applied for an American Express card solely for the purposes of buying tickets to this event, as AMEX is the sole payment method allowed for these presales. So naturally that was a complete waste of time and effort. 🙄

ParticipantThe other thing here is that I had offers to do the Amex presales at a few of the other Nov. shows and I refused to do them. I remember the feedback I got from this forum the last time we did it -in NY i believe- and I vowed to never do it again. We want the real fans in the front row -not based on what charge card somebody owns.
In the case of the Grammy Museum I didn’t have the option -because it’s not a proper show and Lucinda doesn’t get a dime for doing it- the money goes benefit music related charities I believe.October 13, 2014 at 8:49 pm #53567tonyg
KeymasterGreetings out there in Lu land. The Grammy Museum show is tonight. Doors at 7:30. If this follows the usual format, there will be an on-stage interview with someone from the museum, followed by a performance of 4 or 5 songs. This should be pretty great. 😀

KeymasterLu is still being interviewed after about 45 minutes. I never realized how hysterically funny she is. She is a very amusing storyteller. The audience is now asking questions.

KeymasterIt was a splendid evening of talk and music at the Grammy Museum in beautiful downtown L.A. There is a 200 seat theater inside the museum where they hold these functions,; this one is part of a series called “The Drop” when artists come in to plug their new record. Lu was interviewed onstage for about 45 minutes about her early life, her parents, her musical upbringing and influences, and a lot about the new record. Mercifully there were no questions about Gurf Morlix. Lu was in rare form; relaxed and enjoying the interview in a very entertaining way. She cuold have her own talk show I think. She described her songwriting process and how she feels she is at her most prolific at 61, unlike pop stars who enjoy early success and fizzle out.
She opened with Compassion and then Doug joined her for the rest of the show on electric guitar. No CD signing after.
The website was out in force with myself, Grumpymama, and Paul From Los Angeles, and Tom. Fun was had. I broke my rule about going out on a weeknight for the 100th time and did not spring out of bed full of vim and vigor at 5:30 am after getting home at 11 pm. Who said “it’s better to burn out than it is to rust”?
Great to see a large local cast of characters out to see Lu on her home court: Lu and Tom’s friends Peggy and Robert, Doug and his son Ryan, and Doug’s friend Rob who did the artwork for his new CD “Gone”.

Thanks to all who represented the Forum, and to Tony who wrote it up. I saw something similar in Austin by way of radio interview on the UT campus, but this sounds superior, with a mini-set involved. Nice that Doug was along, and had she played “Burning Bridges,” there might have been a Morlix question or two on someone’s lips afterward.
also, I believe San Diego singer-songwriter Sara Petite was present.
