Anyone else catch(or attend?) the live debut of Lu’s new song.. Ghosts of Highway 20 via Periscope tonight?
Very cool new song debuted at what I believe was a private function CIMS (Coalition of Independent Music stores) anniversary celebration. Great song, I was wondering if it might not be the title cut for the upcoming new album.
* If you follow Lu on Twiitter you can watch the broadcast even though it’s ended…

Well, no, but I did catch its true “debut,” as reported in the Rosanne/Emmy/Lu thread, on Sept. 3.
Thanks Mike for reporting on the semi-private New Orleans event. Hopefully, Tom will tell us more. Meanwhile, GO LU AND STUART WITH THESE NOMINATIONS FOR TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 16, 2015 at 11:16 pm #54526Mike_DoranParticipantIt was billed as a debut… 8)
I missed the “true debut” notes… Likely because of how much envy I had for those in attendance.. 😕And yes indeed.. Good luck to Lu and Tom and Stuart tonight!!
September 17, 2015 at 5:05 pm #54527stogerParticipanttoo lazy to start a new thread, but this does follow up on certain items in this thread: As many folks know by now, Lu won the award for Album of the Year, beating out Sturgill Simpson (who got her in the other two noms) and others. Her speech was short; she was obviously surprised. Co-producer Greg Leisz thanked some folks, and Tom gave a nice shout-out to Thirty Tigers in general and Kim Buie in particular (though I think she works for New West now).
Eight people on stage for “East Side of Town” is a bit much, but since two of them were Leisz and Stuart Mathis (who was defeated by John Leaventhal for Instrum. of the Year), it still worked. Don Was was AWOL, but the house band was superb as always (three “w” words in same sentence).
I had the honor of sitting next to Anne McCue for the three hour and twenty-five minute proceedings.
I saw Stuart outside beforehand, waiting for his wife and daughter to share this big night with him.
Ian McLagan was acknowledged, but maybe the highlight for me was Keb Mo eulogizing BB King, then doing a classic King song from the 60’s. Wednesday would have been his 90th birthday.
Any other Forum folk there?
Tonight, Shannon McNally + Buick 6 at the Stone Fox, the latter with a surprise guest if I don’t miss my guess. Anne McCue plays a 5:00 set prior, at Douglas Corner Café.
September 17, 2015 at 6:28 pm #54528tonygKeymasterAppreciate the Anne shout-out and the w’s.
September 18, 2015 at 2:38 am #54529musicloverParticipantStoger, I started to text you. I got to see the show. Not going to make it to the Stone Fox tonight. Very happy for Lucinda and the band. She looked very surprised. I am going to see Jay Farrar Sunday night. How about you?

tony, I thought about you as you were no doubt walking to the Simi Valley venue for the Republican debate Wed. night about the time of the Awards show.
September 21, 2015 at 3:19 pm #54532tonygKeymasterStoger, they found my shoe bomb and I was invited out.

But your intentions were noble, narrowing the field to the toxin-resistant Trump and a couple of others.
September 21, 2015 at 9:23 pm #54534tonygKeymasterNumerous Trump supporters lined the streets of my neighborhood on the day of the debate. I had to run them over with my car.
P.S. For the uninitiated (everyone else but Stoger and Tim), the Reagan Library is up the hill from my abode.
P.P.S. Add Lafayette.

Ahem, I knew that…. 🙂
September 22, 2015 at 6:23 pm #54536LafayetteParticipant…and back to the origin of this thread.
Mike, YES, I did catch the ‘debut(s)’ of Ghosts of Highway 20, both at the CMHOF (staying with the acronym theme of this thread) and on Periscope in NOLA. I know you’ve mentioned Periscope before, but I have TO to thank for quickly showing me the app while in Nashville.
It’s a very cool, and of the 174 I follow on twitter, Lu’s account is by far the the one utilizing it the most.
