Hopefully this link will come through, but there is an excellent article/essay about Frank Stanford in the Fall 2015 issue of Oxford American, titled “Last Panther of the Ozarks”, for those looking for more Pineola background (and there are some Lu tidbits as well). It’s a really well written article and worth a read, regardless. Try this link:

    Enjoy! Viv

Oh my. I hadn’t Clue One about Frank Stanford until this afternoon when snoopy me decided to poke around in Lucinda’s forum. What an article!

This is a guy who would have been one of my running mates, as they say, “back in the day…” we were about the same age, and about the same crazy. He had many more gifts than I, I suspect, but who knows but that I might have cadged some inspiration from that beautiful head of his.

This always happens to me: I just get started reading somebody, and I’m really into it. And then along comes somebody else with lights flashing and sirens blaring. So who shall it be?

Copper Canyon Press has just re-released some of his poetry, one volume at least. Check it out.
