1 Nothin’ in Ramblin (Lu wrongly introduces it as a Mattie Delaney song, then laughingly corrects herself to Memphis Minnie: in a bit of foreshadowing as it turns out, she looks stage left in the wings and says “Don’t get mad at me” to her camp]–solo
    2 Ghosts of Highway 20–solo
3 2 Kool (Lu speaks about writing this hungover one New Years day, “pissed off at my boyfriend of the time”)
4 Pineola (extensive, happy intro, mentioning Frank Stanford just won a prize posthumously this year)
    5 Crescent City
    6 Right in Time
7 East Side of Town (Lu says after that she had forgotten how “relevant” this song is now)
    8 Reason to Cry
    9 Fruits of My labor
10 Steal Your Love (seemingly shaky start, but at end with the crowd going wild, she opines that being “loose” can be a good thing)
    11 Doors of Heaven
    12 REal Live Bleeding…
    13Protection
14 Little Rock Star (mini-meltdown time: two false starts: two f-bombs: two different guitars: never finished. I believe this is the time of the set where Lu stares down her camp again, mentioning something about “Reason to Cry” from earlier, though I myself thought that song had gone well)
    15 Out of Touch
    16 Foolishness (relatively subdued version)
    17 Get Right with God

    18 Cross to Bear
    19 Honeybee
    20 Joy

Lu praised the table/chairs sitdown configuration early in the set (as opposed to all standing of night before), even though she still prefers “rock clubs” generally. Very little standing room last night, at back. Good to see ddinj (both New Jerseyans in fact), and also Mike/backstreets and westwords again. Hail Lafayette and her brother too!!

    From Tom:
Some night everything goes wrong. Some nights you step up to the mic and it doesn’t work. Some nights you want to sing a song and it doesn’t come out right. Some nights the best intentions backfire. Some nights the momentum of the downward spiral is too great and it rolls right up on you. In front of everyone. Sometimes the embarrassment of that is too much and it falls apart. All of those things and more happened last night. There was plenty of blame to go around, but we all know we can fix the things that went wrong-and we will. Unfortunately she’s the one on stage so she’s the one who has to take the fall.
But, given all that, I hope you also noticed the fire and passion of someone who refused to give in when the wheels came off. I hope you also noticed the pure fighter who got back up off the ground after it all bottomed out. In those moments you saw the very essence of Lucinda. Thinking about it now, in some ways, last night was a microcosm of her entire life- played out in two hours. She never gives up the fight to make it right -the fight to redeem the night- and ultimately the fight to redeem herself. Whether you thought she won or lost I hope you at least appreciated her fight.

Spoken with fire and passion, Tom: well articulated.

Great report, stoger! Thanks so much for posting, I had intentions on taking the reigns to give you a break, however, you’re posts are more timely than mine these days.

Pre show was nice, albeit pricey dinner, however, the companionship was endearing. Miss my FF friends.

Nice seeing the NJ contingent and meeting backstreets after the show.

Regarding the show, it’s always good for me, regardless of mini/major meltdowns. As fans, we get it. As fans, as TO mentioned, we’ve also seen, time after time, Lu digging deep to make it right for her fans. The band had her back as well. They were digging just as deep for mama. In the end, she was smiling, and it was all good. At least for me, it was. PLUS, 2 Kool 2 Be-Forgotten! 😀

The room sounded fantastic, we were crammed in like sardines. I went with a feed on FB at the beginning of the show. I always have the intention of broadcasting just a few songs, but don’t have the heart to shut it off after I see the people on my friends list tuning in, ones that typically don’t interact on my page. The phone battery died before the hiccups on stage. I can’t bear to watch the footage again, I’m fairly certain I’m singing along on some songs and the mic picked up my vocals. A singer, I am not. 😳

    Happy New Year to all!
