1a I Just Wanted to See You So Bad [Lu unmiked, about a verse or so attempted]
1b I Just Wanted to See You So Bad [“I feel like an idiot” for not realizing the sound problem]
1c I Just Wanted to See You So Bad [everybody nails it, after she had stopped the song the second time]
2 Big Red Sun Blues [before which Lu reflects on the “hard curfew” at the winery and hopes that no one will “pull the plug” this night]
3 Pineola
4 Something About What Happens When We Touch [Butch does not come up front on it like the previous tour: Lu returns to the topic of the fiasco of song one, with a smile]
5 Are You Alright [Lu reflects further on the winery, saying “it’s bad for the equipment” to have the power cut so abruptly. She references the Thursday night show where, as sugar reported here, someone leaped to his death, by saying “I wasn’t there but I was traumatized” but questions the band Swell Season’s post on their website of sympathy for the “victim,” whom Lu notes was a domestic abuser out on bail]
6 Ventura [“in honor of this west coast run”]
7 Don’t Know How You’re Living [for her brother Robert: lots of repetition of the word “you” here]
8 Kiss Like Your kiss
9 Right in Time
10 Drunken Angel
11 Buttercup [“revenge is sweet” says Lu after, regarding the composition of the song about its subject]
12 Out of Touch
13 Real Live Bleeding Fingers… [Butch tosses a stick at David, who applies it to the bass briefly]
14 Come On
15 Seeing Black [Lu talks of making a “positive thing” out of the situation of VC’s suicide]
16 Unsuffer Me
17 Honeybee [with talk of Memphis Minnie and others, maybe Cowboy Jack Clement, who have written songs about bees as “sexual metaphors,”–then looks at Val and notes this intro is not going anywhere: Lefty, no mention of a “little firecracker” this time, but you can guess my visual image as I listened]
18 Joy

19 Sharp Cutting Wings [by Facebook request]
20 Blessed [EN TOTO, LIGHTS DOWN, SOUND AT FULL THROTTLE]
21 It’s a Long Way to the TopWell, I could write more, but I think I’ll walk back over and CRASH THE AFTERSHOW. Wish me luck.

I.e., in #4, I think you mean “Talk” instead of “Touch”. Maybe still “bees” on the brain? 😉
Sounds like a great show – I wish I could have been there myself (well, technically, I could have… )

P.S. “Sharp Cutting Wings”?!?! 😮

blessed be facebook.
i hope someone taped this incredible moment for there’s no video recording of it available on the youtube.
“i could swear i knew your love before i knew your name” must be stunning live.
August 21, 2010 at 12:32 pm #44154LeftyParticipantAs always, thanks, stoger.
At the risk of sounding weird, I take comfort in the knowledge that you (+ TNT, tony, paul et al.) are on the scene here and there out west. 🙂August 21, 2010 at 3:08 pm #44155tonygKeymasterThx for the great report.
August 22, 2010 at 1:28 am #44156LafayetteParticipantDitto from me on the show report. I love that Lu has taken to facebook and utilizing in such a way that fans are having their moments between song requests and M & G’s.

FORGIVE THE SLIP, MY FRIEND, BUT WHAT ARE A FEW LETTERS AMONG LUHEADS: HEY, I’M AN OMNI–VERBAL/TACTILE KIND OF GUY, WHAT CAN I SAY?
August 22, 2010 at 6:53 pm #44159LafayetteParticipantstoger ~ I am officially “calling” you as the friendly forum member who coined “Luhead.” Can this be? Too superficial, too mainstream? Not for me.
I am an official Mellenhead and now a Luhead. 😆 8)
August 23, 2010 at 11:59 pm #44160BLUE TRANEParticipantWanted to say thank you for all of these reports. It is great to see what has been played so far, and the mix of the music. Will be at the Sacramento show tomorrow night. Looking forward to hearing Val in the mix, also.

“i could swear i knew your love before i knew your name” must be stunning live. It’s one of my favorite Lu songs. I was fortunate to hear it live last October in Toronto-the first night of her 30th anniversary tour.
I totally agree about no videos, however here is one done by a young lady named Sophie who does a great cover that I enjoyed. She can really handle that guitar. I’ll call her Little Lu.
She is a real fan of Lu’s and has tweeted to her many times when you look at Sophie 2392’s link.
Here is one comment on You tube and the song link.

lwjWOW! Quite a talented young lady, I’d say!!
If you look at her YouTube channel, she has some other videos showcasing her talents. AND, if you click the “See All” under “Favorites” (a list of her favorite YouTube videos by others), what do you suppose is 4th in her list? Why, “Butch Norton and his hot dogs”, of course! 😆 😆 😆
Connecting the dots…

And if you look further on the list past the hot dogs, y’all will see Lu’s Honey Bee.
Furthermore, it’s great to see so much young talent covering Lu. What a tribute.
Now we are really straying away from the Eugene Setlist, but let’s just carry on.
Tom, I know you and I are dog lovers.
Watch Sophie ( if you haven’t allready ) covering the Stones song “High and Dry” and you will see Sophie’s dog on the floor just to her right keep’n time to some great music.

lwjSeptember 6, 2010 at 4:21 am #44164LafayetteParticipantShazaam…that girl can play! You’re right, lwj, she is a little Lu! Unbelievable.
September 7, 2010 at 4:46 am #44165tntracyParticipantTOverby sent me this hand-written setlist that he wrote out & Lu annotated before the show to post…
