I know the above is wrong. The best I could do. Very interesting evening, Lu told many stories, such as Car Wheels and the first time her father heard the song, the men behind Pineola, Drunken Angel and Lake Charles. Her grandparents and Bus to Baton Rouge. Lu discussed missing her father, and those “switches” (not missing the switches ) Interesting evening for me, as I was accompanied by my mother, who had a very close relationship with her father. The Rising in NJ, naturally that became a group sing a long. Mother/Daughter in NJ say Thank You Lu and Buick 6 and Matt Blake for a great night, and some good laughs about plastic covered couches during the ride home.

I think that is the right setlist (won’t swear to order, seemed to recall them playing In the Pines too, but that might be the IPA talking)…decided not to write it down and my memory isn’t what it was.

I really like when Buick 6 opens..it feels like one of those old blues shows where for example Muddy’s band would play a few songs before Muddy came to the stage.

Sound of the band was fantastic (Lu generally has excellent sound). From my third row vantage point I thought the vocals kind of echoed a bit, as I don’t think they have a center fill in speaker so Lu’s voice emanates from the upper side speakers and the band is more upfront. Kind of know that the sound won’t be ideal that close, and that is a tradeoff you make to be near the stage.

Think it has been about a year since I’ve caught a show. I felt that Stuart’s guitar fills have become more and more complex (in a good way) since I last saw them. He adds so much subtlety and little touches that really improve the “depth” of his playing.

Was really looking forward to hearing some of the new album live. And while I would have loved to hear, for example, Foolishness, being able to catch an absurdly well played “one more day” more than made up for that. I usually gravitate to her more rocking songs, but last night the slower ones really hit me for some reason. Have had “Bus to Baton Rouge ” going through my head all day and When I look at the world (I believe solo) was also terrific.

As a huge Bruce fan it was cool to hear the Rising, although I don’t think that would make my list of top 100 Bruce songs. Neat, kind of slower and less anthemic version. Love to hear them tackle something like Tougher Than the Rest.

Have to make sure I don’t go another year between shows.

“One More day” wow!!!!!!!! Thanks dd and visions–a year is far too long, I agree. We’ll see what Tom adds to this in time. “Bus to Baton Rouge” is noteworthy and probably is the plastic couch tie-in. NO mention of grandma in housedresses swatting cockroaches with newspapers? And as for the other side of the fam, “switches” indeed. Wish I could have joined visions, dawn, and dominic.

Here ya go Stoger. From Tom:
Not sure what’s in the water in Englewood NJ but I want some of whatever it is. The list of luminaries is very impressive, ranging from Dizzy Gilllespie, Tony Bennett, Wilson Pickett, The Isley Brothers and many others on the music siide. Let’s also toss in Eddie Murphy, John Travolta and Brooke Shields and many many others. Must’ve been an interesting place to walk around the streets several years ago.
On the Lu front thicks just continue to click on all cylinders. We had a birthday wish from a husband to his wife who was celebrating her 60th birthday. He had said that One More Day was her favorite song but we had never done the song with the band live before, but Lu said “we can do it” and they did—it sounded like it had been played many times -we have to do that one more often. Every night we say that about so many songs. Another example of that was this was the first time on this leg for Bus To Baton Rouge and it was spellbinding -as it usually is. Another great crowd and beautiful sounding old theater. We’re getting spoiled.

I would say D gave his spouse D that 6oth birthday request, but having seen them at multiple shows in the flesh, I can verify their ages at roughly half that figure. 😀
