I’d like to tell you she closed with “Crescent City” & “Sweet Old World,” but no. Still, 22 songs clocking in at 1:45 for a 90-minute festival slot is not too shabby. “Luxury Liner” really rocked, and Emmy referenced Gram Parsons’ name a couple of songs later, giving full credit as she always does. Among her band members was Sin City/Americana goldenboy Jedd Hughes (who also cut “Luxury Liner”). The “girl” songs (Orphan + Red Dirt) were especially good. George Jones’ “One of These Days” got a workout (“We lost him last year, but he always melted my butter”). The Carter Family and the Stanley Family got acknowledged by her; this was the same stage Lu played this time last year, Rhythm and Roots Fest of Bristol. “Michaelangelo” and the Emmett Till number were standouts too.
