    Can anyone offer advice as to whether the El Rey or NYC set of 5-shows is better? I don’t think I want to invest in both sets. My impulse is that NYC would be better because the shows are “second takes” and the playing might be tighter.

    Any recommendations for those who do have both sets? Thanks in advance.

    I cannot comment on the NYC gigs. BUT as a New Yorker who did attend one of the El Rey gigs I purchased the complete set of cds. Amazing stuff.
    I don’t think you can go wrong with Lu. BUT remember, its very loose. Not like the Fillmore album at all. These albums are warts an all.

    I can’t wait to see Lu again!
