June 1, 2013 at 4:08 am #51659DDinNJParticipantMy husband and I are in Holland for all 3 shows Here is my best attempt at set list. Side of the road, Car Wheels, Something kind of happens, Concrete & Barbed wire 3 new songs, Com’on, Pineoloa, Essence, Get Right with God, Joy, Lost It, Crescent City, Changed the locks, Drunken Angel, 2 covers. This is not in order and I may be missing something. A wonderful performance. Audience was extremely low key, Lu even commented 3 times about it. The sound was great. And She hit Concrete& Barbed Wire out of the park. Sorry if not the greatest of reports. Will try to do better tonight. We are also seeing the show in Brussels.

June 1, 2013 at 10:24 am #51662scdegraafParticipantGreat show in Eindhoven at the Muziekgebouw, a venue with fantastic acoustics. The only downside was the venue is rather formal: it’s a seated hall with a large distance between the stage and the audience. Lucinda didn’t like this and for the encore she invited the audience to leave their seats and move to the stage.
That didn’t prevent Lucinda from giving all she had.Setlist:
1. Side Of The Road
2. Car Wheels On A Gravel Road
3. Pineola
4. Crescent City
5. Something Abut What Happens When We Talk
6. Stoaway
7. When I Look At The World
8. Copenhagen
9. Concret And Barbed Wire
10. I Lost It
11. Drunken Angel
12. Something Wicked this Way Comes
13. Come On
14. Hard Time Killing Floor Blues
15. Essence
16. Changed The Locks
17. Honeybee
18. Joy
Encore:
19. River Man
20. Blessed
21. Get Right With GodTomorrow I’ll see her again at the Amsteram Paradiso, a venue with not ideal acoustics, but a great atmosphere and the type of venue that fits Lucinda like a glove.

Shoulder to shoulder standing venues work best for Lucinda.Lots of video cameras were present in Eindhoven a la You Tube.
Here’s Copenhagen featuring Doug P. on pedal steel.(superb)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7z-f_c8ZL8
And a side note for co-moderator tonyg 😆 Maybe he got his idea for his new avatar with stand-up frizzy hair from David S.lwj
June 1, 2013 at 1:42 pm #51664VincentParticipantHello all,
I have been to the show in Eindhoven yesterday and I was a bit surprised about the venue.
As people where all sitting (first row quite some distance from the stage) there was not really a rock atmosphere.
I am not an export on sound but if I’m am not mistaking the bass was sometimes distorted and the gitar sound echoed.
But I could be completely wrong off course.
I am also wondering why there was no drummer.
But for the rest I really enjoyed this evening and Lucinda’s songs although next time I will pick a shoe where people can stand close to the stage and drink a beer when they want.Greetings,
Vincent
June 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm #51665scdegraafParticipantLast night was a typical case of a mismatch between an artist and a venue. Eindhoven has 2 larger venues for life shows: one for the more rocky shows and one for the acoustic shows. This show was originally advertised as ” an intimate evening with Lucinda Williams”. It was supposed to be Lucinda and Doug in an acoustic setting, hence the choice of venue.
The audience at the Muziekgebouw is generally a bit older and quiet. In general you won’t see them in the other venue.
The positive side is that the acoustics at the Muziekgebouw are wonderful. The sound at the other venue is not that good. Moreover people tend to talk a lot there and they are annoyingly loud, often spoiling it for other people.Tomorrow the Paradiso will be perfect.

June 1, 2013 at 9:51 pm #51667stogerParticipantWow, the Dutch contingent has brought this tour alive in a way no Scandinavian ever did, for sure for sure. Thanks to DD and SC and Vincent (didn’t Van Gogh once dwell near Eindhoven?) for these great rundowns. DD, hope to meet you and your husband come Brussels. Sylvia, maybe you are coming there too–I have been on the Paradiso email list for ages, though I’ve never seen a show there.
“Stowaway in Your Heart” is a tour debut I think, the “oldest” of the new songs as it were, in terms of live performance in the US. “Concrete & Barbed Wire” also marked a tour debut I think.
The point is well taken about “intimate performance with. . .” on the one hand, half a rhythm section on the other. it seems a bit neither fish nor fowl, but these musicians are so fine and Lucinda so versatile that I can’t wait to join up.
So did people in fact take Lucinda up on standing near front for encore?
Here’s hoping happy sound for the Benelux gigs ahead. . . .
