First, the set list- I could use a hand on a couple of the encore song titles:
Real Love
2 Kool To Be Forgotten (sic)
Tears Of Joy
Fruits Of My Labor Right In Time
Drunken Angel
Out Of Touch
Little Rock Star
Essence
Come On
Real Life Bleeding Fingers…
Honeybee
Joy
Righteously…I’m Down With That…(didn’t recognize this)
I Live My Life (not sure of actual title)
Get Right With God
It’s A Long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock and Roll (not sure of actual title)From what I’ve read this tour has been plagued by bad weather, but it was perfectly cool and clear up near Park City last night, and I think the band responded to this and the scenery by stepping it up a notch or two. I’ve previously seen her start with a soft song or two and build, but Real Love started things on an up beat and they never really slowed down; recent posts about this tour being less folk and more rock are dead on. Also, the new songs are developing nicely (I’m personally a little sorry to see one my favorites, Still I Long For Your Kiss, replaced in the “slow blues slot” by Tears of Joy, but such is life).
Highlights: Honeybee- it was undeveloped at the last show in Utah, but smoked last night. The crowd rushed en masse to dance at the front of the stage during this, and the band picked it up yet another notch. They could have ended at Joy, but gave us another- Lucinda even called an audible for Righteously, as the band did a double instrument switch beforehand.
The encores were great- I didn’t recognize the first song- a little help, please. I only have 5 shows to go by, but I don’t think I’ve seen Lucinda smile & dance as much as she did during Get Right With God. And, who else would think of covering both Fats Domino and AC/DC almost back to back?
Buick 6 did a fun opening set- interesting, but laid back enough so as not to steal the show. It was also a treat to actually see a band warm up before its show. Pipeline was a nice opener, and the taking turns imitating Robert’s Plant’s vocals instrumentally on Black Dog was fun.
My lone personal “if only”: More upright bass (1 song) and pedal steel (0 songs) during Lucinda’s set; they did just fine on the chosen songs and instruments, though.

That song is called “Are You Down” and is off of her album “Essence”. You’ve got the other encore song titles right.
Thanks for posting the setlist & review. Glad you liked the show! Sounds like it was a lot more comfortable weather-wise than the Atlanta show… 😉

July 29, 2008 at 7:04 pm #36466wgordonParticipantThanks, tntracy- I should have known that.
I forgot to comment further on Get Right With God- Doug P’s tech tuned the white SG he uses for the song earlier then put it back, so I was glad when they eventually did play it. We were then treated to a long bonus intro as the lyric sheet was apparently not on the stand and had to be brought out. Poor Doug then hit a very noticeably wrong chord on the first chorus that ocouldn’t be ignored, so he signaled a “my bad”- no problem, he’s one of my favorite guitarists and always has the right tone as well as riff.

Did Lucinda abandon “Fruits of My Labor” and do “Right in Time” instead (maybe you just decided to put them on the same line)? Did you put “sic” after 2 Kool. . . because of a misspelling or because she started it over, or just what? These may seem minor, except to Luheads. . . .
Anybody make it to Red Rocks?
July 30, 2008 at 12:12 am #36468wgordonParticipantThe first was a typo. Both songs were done in their entirety (and quite well, too). And that “sic” was my editor instinct- I wasn’t sure I remembered how she spells it. It is “2 Kool” isn’t it?

“2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten” 😉
