I was greatly saddened by the news of Dan Fogelbergs passing in December 2006. He was a great songwriter, musician, and singer. I had the opportunity to sit with him backstage in St. Louis at the Eagles/ Fogelberg / Fools Gold concert. Dan was a storyteller and that is something missing in most of today’s pop world. That is why I like Lucinda, she has escaped the pop, polished, glossed over, pre-fabricated stuff being put out as music. Well it might pass for music but it will never pass as an art form. Those people are rare on today’s scene. Lucinda is one and Dan was one. Thankfully he left a sizable body of work, but at the age of 56/57, possibly his best work was yet to come, like the Eagles. Farewell Dan!

[i]Dan left us on December 16 at 6:00am . He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side. His strength, dignity, and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Larry King had Graham Nash and Joe Walsh on to talk about Fogelberg. they were very sad to see him pass, i surmised from the interview he got diagnosed late maybe because he was afraid or didn’t trust someone. i liked what songs of his i heard on the radio, especially Language of Love. brilliant.
