From Tom:
Lu got an extra day of rest before this three night run and that really helps her. We had a fun night off at our hotel where we got to see a lot of friends that were in town playing the Old 97’s festival. Lu was really energized and rested and completely ready to go on night 1. In fact Lu was very talkative in between songs on all three nights—epecially night 3. Before Lake Charles she was telling the story of Clyde, who she wrote the song about and she actually added a detail that in 11 years I had never heard her say before. She talked about how the family and his close friends got into a fight over Clyde’s ashes and they ended splitting them. Of all the times I’ve heard her introduce that song, that was the very first time I had ever heard that. She’s never short on surprises. Lots of highlights over the three nights. We got a very amusing request from both a boyfriend and the girlfriend sepparately for the song the Knowing. It was the first time that was played in a very long time and it sounded fantastic. That one needs to come back more often. Yes -it sounds like a broken record to say it but it was truly another fantastic three nights. 46 different songs -and the only reason I keep mentioning that is just to underline how we change the set lists every night. Thanks to three awesome sold out audiences.
Thanks to everyone at the Kessler, it has truly become one of Lu’s favorite places to play
