Courtney Love has been working on a new album. I’ve heard the leaked version and it is truly tremendous. It actually reminds me a lot of Lucinda’s style. It’s all very rhythmic and acoustic based. Songs like For Once In your Life, How Dirty Girls Get Clean, Car Crash, Loser Dust and Pacific Coast Highway are brilliant and some of the best she’s ever done. Most of the record was written in rehab from 2005-2006. It’s very confessional but without being pitiful or a cry for attention. It’s mostly cautionary (Oh I’ve been better, you know what’s pure and you know what’s right. But I am forever, just do the right thing for once in your life. ) She is confidant and sounds better than she has since Hole. (Hell hath no fury like the noise I’ll make, like the heads I’ll roll, like the names I’ll take/ This is the way, that dirty girls get clean)
It’s worth the wait and I hope it’ll be released soon but perhaps some of you have heard it already. It’s probably pretty easy to find on the net with a little searching.
