This blog was posted on CMT’s website, citing CWOAGR as love letters to the South.

Whenever I listen to Lucinda Williams’ 1998 album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, it always strikes me as a heartfelt love letter to the South. How often do you hear an ode to Lake Charles, La.? Her poetic songs are sprinkled with references to places like Vicksburg, Miss., where she’s heading after a breakup, and Nacogdoches, Texas, where one of her characters runs out of steam. I’ve never been to either city but she writes so vividly that I feel like I’ve seen it all, too. Since this is Valentine’s Day weekend, I should say that “Right in Time” is still pretty sexy and that “Metal Firecracker” perfectly describes the experience of letting your guard down with someone you love, and living with the consequences when the relationship is over. Car Wheels on a Gravel Road remains her bestselling work and earned a much-deserved Grammy for best contemporary folk album. To quote one of its song titles, it’s “2 Cool 2 Be 4-Gotten.” In the last few years, Williams has occasionally dedicated her set lists to a full album, but she hasn’t done that in Nashville yet. However, if she ever announces such a show around here, my own car wheels won’t be far behind.

Thanks for posting the article Lafayette. CWOAGR is my favorite Lucinda album too.
Thought it fitting to post the title song.
This is a very high quality video of Lu and Buick 6 from the BBC 2009 Cambridge Folk Festival.
