Chuck played this gig on Sunday the 28th. I booked him to open for Alejandro for a Tuesday evening the 30th show in Lafayette. We had a near sellout in our intimate 268 seat venue. It was an amazing show from two great singer/songwriters, and a dream pairing for me. Chuck was a real pro and a pleasure to be around. Dinner the evening before, then off for a KRVS radio live performance the day of the show. Alejandro also did a phone interview at the same time.

I have been fortunate to be able to bring these great artists into Lafayette for some really cool intimate shows. From Lu, to Graham Parker, to Chuck and Alejandro and Paul Thorn, we have had some great shows…and more to come.

Chuck’s Spring Tour 2013 is announced on this clever You Tube trailer.
He leaves Europe just before Lu arrives.
    Here’s the video.

I’ve yet to make it through the doors of the newly opened Southgate Revival House. 😯 Buddy and Jim played there last week but I couldn’t make it. Hopefully, I can make it for Chuck, as well as for Angela Perley, who is fast becoming my favorite live indie band to catch.

WNKU absolutely loves Chuck. I would bet my last dollar he will stop for an On Air.

I’m so looking forward to Chuck’s performance in Rochester that I have a room booked for May 13th at the same B&B that I stayed at when I attended Lu’s last concert before Europe in March /09-You know this was at the East Harrow Ballroom where Susannah reported that Lefty was bald and wearing a pink and blue shirt. 😆
As for Angela Perley and the Howling Moons, I may get to see them in Toronto in June . My favorite video of Angela is “Flowers for My Johnnie” which I have saved. Did you enjoy their show from Feb. 22nd as you reported earlier ?
Since we are a bit off topic Lafayette, you were a good sport to post Lu’s WBEZ radio show on Setlist FM.

So Lafayette, I just posted under the Heartless Bastards a full 1/2 hour You Tube of their January performance at Southgate so you can get a feel for the venue ( an old church ), looks great.
And you could have a double night out at Southgate with Chuck on May 17th followed on the 18th with Angela Perley and the Howlin’ Moons.
I also posted an article and video under Angela Perley.

I just love the composition of this photo that Chuck posted on Facebook, so I thought I would share it here for those not Facebook-inclined. It is from Belgrade, Serbia, where Chuck just performed…

I didn’t make the drive to Rochester yesterday as it was my b’day, but here’s Chuck at the Lilac City Festival.

I plan on Angela Perley but have to pass on Chuck (and Jon E. Gee playing a fundraiser in the area that evening as well).

Too many bands, not enough time.

I had the pleasure and privilege of seeing Chuck and the Mission Express perform his “Temple Beautiful” album in its entirety at the lovely and upscale City Winery in Chicago this past Sunday. The band was accompanied by a string section with a conductor! The juxtaposition of the classical and the chaotic was something only Chuck could pull off with such aplomb.

The next of these rare shows will be at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC this Thursday, June 12th. I am so excited that Chuck is playing at a cool venue in the big city, and I’m hoping he has a great turnout. Lu appears to be in the general vicinity at that time… I can think of only one thing that could possibly make this show cooler… 🙂

If you get the chance, go see one of the stringed shows. You will be wowed.
