At the end of the 2nd show in Chicago, Lu said to now standing audience, “Thank you for coming out -thank you for the gift you give to me—I love Chicago”. It wasn’t more than 5 minutes after the show, when Lucinda and band we’re feeling extremely happy about two really great nights when someone came back and said “we have someone who wants to say hello”. And just like that the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel came walking into the dressing room. To say that was a surprise was an understatement. About 4 years ago he had asked if he could come to Park West and introduce Lucinda so we knew he was a fan, but we had no idea he was in the house on this night. As he told Lucinda “this is my 8th time seeing you—I was only going to sneak in for a couple songs but it was so fantastic I couldn’t leave—you are just better than ever”. Well put Mr. Mayor and thanks once again Chicago.
