it was a great show last night. the setlist was about as good as it gets. David and Butch played great, and the new guitar slinger (Steve ?), whom Lucinda said used to be with the Wallflowers, was very good. Lucinda played and sang excellently. the crowd was really into it, too. don’t miss this tour if you get a chance to catch it!

To augment the reports from ParkerCA:
Kenneth Brian band played from 7:30-8:15.
Lucinda played the Rough Album songs in sequence from 9:05-10:05:
1. I Just Wanted to See You So Bad
2. The Night’s Too Long
3. Abandoned
4. Big Red Sun Blues
5. Like a Rose
6. Changed the Locks
7. Passionate Kisses
8. Am I Too Blue
9. Crescent City
10. Side of the Road
11. Price to Pay
12. I Asked for Water (He Gave Me Gasoline)Then, the 8 songs reported by ParkerCA, from about 10:20-11:05:
13. Drunken Angel
14. Pineola
15. Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues
16. Out of Touch
17. Unsuffer Me
18. Righteously
19. Joy
20. Honey BeeThen, Lucinda returned for an encore from 11:10-11:20:
21. Magnolia (by the late J.J. Cale)
22. Keep On Rockin’ in the Free WorldCain’s Ballroom is an excellent venue: an enormous dance floor, with permanent side bleachers for sitting, plus temporary tables and chairs at the rear. Also, a nice outdoor patio, primarily for smokers, but also for enjoying some warm evening breezes. Only complaint is no draft beer, just cans of mediocre domestic brews.
Stoger’s friend, Mark Humphreys, is back on the sound board for this mini-tour, after completing his latest tour with Neil Young.
Well, I was known to buy Mark a red wine or two back in the day–good to know this soundman is back, though all who have served in this capacity have done well. Next you’ll tell me “Turk” will spin the knobs back there.
I did do Cain’s a few years back, good mem’s of Parker and his wife, + coffee thread. I’m sure dentists don’t look too threatening while stalking tour bus areas.
Paul, I didn’t know you were such an aficianado of beers.
I guess Kenneth Brian won’t be there tonight in Champaign, nor will the format we RT album in full/in sequence (or will it?) Here’s hoping “English” has returned to the driver’s seat to supplement Mark in the back bunk–and that all arrived safely.
September 7, 2013 at 5:23 pm #52169tonygKeymasterStuart Mathis is the guitarist, Coffee. Did you get your CD signed? 😉
September 7, 2013 at 5:41 pm #52170parkercaParticipantStoger, missed seeing you there. Had a blast. Lu and band sounded great!
September 7, 2013 at 7:50 pm #52171coffee4throadParticipanttonyg: thanks for clarification of guitarist, I didn’t miss Doug too much, but would like my friend Dan and his wife to see him in action some day.
the cd? no, I didn’t get it signed. I asked the soundman and another guy who was going back and forth to the merch table to ask her to sign it, but they said she wasn’t going to be doing any of that last night. I wasn’t up to going around the block and try to head off the bus… too tired from yanking teeth all day, and too much of Dan’s maker’s mark…
anyway, it was a great night.
btw, i’d like to buy you a beer at a gig out there some time… wife’s from nearby your area.September 7, 2013 at 7:53 pm #52172tonygKeymasterIt just so happens I drink beer! I look forward to it. I will buy you a coffee. 😀

hi parker,
I was looking for you two too. I was near the merch table for the KBB and near midstage (slightly to the right, 3 or 4 heads back) for Lucinda’s show. sorry I missed you guys, after the show started I didn’t move, or id lose my place behind the wildly dancing little blonde…had a nice week, we saw Steely Dan at the Brady on Wed night, too.

WHAT?!? 😮 I briefly talked to him twice on Friday night. I almost wore my Neil Young Greendale tour shirt (2003) or Le Noise (2010), but instead stayed with the orange collared polo shirt. I’m a HUGE Neil Young follower and would have liked to ask him about Neil’s recent Alchemy tour.
Well, well, well, I would have to guess that my favorite songs were:
Out Of Touch (1st time hearing this one live, I think)
Unsuffer me
Magnolia
Joy
Am I Too Blue
Honey BeeThe first set was a bit marred by the 60 y.o. lady who was (some type of) intoxicated off her a**. She fell backwards at one point and fell on a lady in a wheelchair. About four different people were holding her upright at one point or another. This was front row on the left side. I’m in a wheelchair, too, so I didn’t want her falling on me, too, so I had one eye on her and one on the band. It was kinda odd in that the girl I was with spoke to her outside on the sidewalk and inside the venue and she didn’t appear intoxicated at all – no slurred words – but she was toast 30-45 minutes after we spoke to her. ❓
During the second set I stayed back about three people, but one kinda tall guy got in my way for most of the second set. I should have asked him to let me in front of him, but I was afraid the intoxicated lady was going to reappear. I was expecting four songs as encore(s), but we only got two songs in one encore. Straight ahead tour opener. Stick to the basics, in my opinion. That’s not to say I didn’t like it. I really enjoyed the 2nd set and parts of the 1st.
Rockin’ In The Free World – this song was a BIG surprise to me. Lu needed lyrics book and glasses. “This is what 60 looks like (with BIG smile and thumbs up or maybe she was giving double birds – guy w/ BIG head was in my view)”
Pineola – the drummer was really hitting it hard. I know its a classic, but I didn’t expect it.
Out Of Touch, Unsuffer Me – great guitar by Stuart
Honey Bee – fast paced rocker as usual – I think this was debuted in Tulsa a couple years ago
Magnolia – beautifully awesome. I played JJ Cale version and I like Lucinda’s better.
Hard Time Killing Floor – good bluesy singing w/ a slick slide on the guitarI should have taken notes. Guitars used by Stuart
Gibson hollow body – Dark brown (ES335?)
Gibson SG – cream white (played HTKF and a couple others w/ this one)
Fender Telecaster (blond?)
Fender StratocasterKeep hope alive,

IBe aware that Lucinda’s show is part of the First Friday in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District–expect lots of people and traffic in the neighborhood.
We didn’t know about this and it was crowded as … firecrackers. I mean, you couldn’t swing a cat for hitting a couple people. It was jam packed.
I talked to people from Wichita, Miama (OK), Texas, Arkansas, OKC (me) and of course, Tulsa.
FWIW the crew and band did a great job in Tulsa. We really liked it. Come by OKC and we can do it again.
September 9, 2013 at 8:32 pm #52178tonygKeymasterWay to go DreamingMan. Persevering through the drunks and tall people!
Stuart Mathis, of the Wallflowers, is the guitarist. Agree Butch goes primal on the drums on Pineola. Lu has done Rockin in the Free World on previous tours as an encore, as well as For What It’s Worth and It’s a Long Way to the Top.
If I remember correctly, Mark Humphries, the sound guy, was one of the weird engineer/scientist people on stage at the beginning of the Alchemy Tour shows.
Sounds like a fun night. 8)
