…and I should add…Lucindas cover of “Its a long to the top” was all hers. What a beautiful song… I have heard it thousands of times and it never resonated for me, ..sorry, but never an accadacca fan…

Thanks, 2 Fish. Can you approximate a set list for us, or at least mention some titles played?

Ok here goes, but I am sure this list is incomplete (& not in order), as I was pretty relaxed at the time & I didn’t know I was supposed to keep track! I was happily surprised she played so many “oldies” during her 1.5hrs. I’ll be more vigilant next time…and I cant wait till next time!

    Happy Woman Blues
    I Lost It
    Tears of Joy
    Drunken Angel
Something About What Happens When We Talk
    Righteously
    Cant let Go
    Blue
    Out Of Touch
Still I long for your kiss
    Real Love
    Real Live Bleeding Fingers
    Essence
    Get right with God
    Come On
Changed The Locks (with a mention to Kasey Chambers who has covered it, and was in the audience on Saturday)
    Long Way to the Top

2xEncores (we pleaded for her to come back, though festival rules dictate no encores, because of the tight schedules, so we were lucky!)
I Lived My Life (Fats Domino)
Things I Used to Do (Guitar Slim)

Thanks also. I’ve heard Kasey Chambers and her band of Bill Chambers, Jeff McCormack, etc. do “Changed the Locks” live in small American clubs–hard to believe she commands arenas in Australia yet we get up close and personal with/to her in the States. Matter of fact, first time ever I heard Lucinda live, KC was the opener. . . .

Thats interesting…the first tme i heard KC was when she supported Emmy-Lou at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane! I remember just about being blown off my seat by her voice! Later saw her at smaller regional venues. I missed her at Byron Blues Fest….she was playing with her (now)husband, Shane Nicholson – who I also saw about 6 years ago, when he was fairly unheard of (supporting Natalie Merchant in Melbourne!). I hope to see them together at some stage…wondering if they are following int he footsteps of my other favourite pair, Gillian Welch and David Rawlins…

Just checked out You Tube today and 5 songs have been uploaded from Byron Bay.

Tears of Joy, Come On, Essence, Joy and Drunken Angel.
    Good quality vids.
It must have been a night for the return of hats.
Lu wearing her straw hat in Tears of Joy, David on Bass and of course, always Butch on drums.

    Enjoy.

I found this photo of Lucinda performing at Byron, I liked it so much I’ve set it as my wallpaper:

There are some other performers from Byron in this gallery too.

Thanks for the direction to youtube – how lovely to be reminded. I have attached a couple of shots I took – Lucinda looked incredibily glamourous on Sat nite…I didn’t think the youtube clips did her justice! Butch looked pretty fab too…

I have been a huge Lucinda fan for about the last 12 years. As such I was looking forward to her shows at Bluesfest with much anticipation (especially as there was not a show in Adelaide). I don’t know about anyone else but the Saturday night show didn’t quite deliver. I had the feeling that, for whatever reason, it wasn’t coming together. However, Sunday night was fantastic. Great atmosphere on stage. Brilliant playing and delivery of the songs. I came away with a new appreciation of these particular songs. My highlight of the festival. Thanks Lucinda please come back soon.
