Agree WW! How many artists are taking requests a day ahead on facebook and letting their fans create their setlists? OMG…don’t get me started… 😈
Lu uses a lyrics stand, other artists use a teleprompter, including my Mr. Mellencamp, and once he gets a setlist tweaked it’s the same set list + he uses it for songs he has sung a gazillion times. Never once have I seen him criticized for using a teleprompter, and it’s obvious sitting/standing/dancing up front, but maybe not so much from a reviewer’s perspective or perhaps they choose to ignore because that’s okay in their book.
Elvis Costello used a lyrics stand when he opened for Dylan several years back. I’m not sure if he has ever been criticized as I never followed up on reviews of that tour.
SO WHAT? I’ll take variety of set list over same old set list any day.
