great venue. despite 4 hours of flight delay from Chicago managed to get to the venue around 7:45, which landed me elbows on the stage between Doug and Lu. Small place means the band is really right at the front of the stage. Good group of folks around.
Lake Charles (lu)
Side of the Road (Lu and Doug)
Bitter Memory (Lu and Doug
I Lost It
Pineola
2 kool
Blue
Little Angel Little Brother (with Amos Lee). Think this was the song that Lu had her one false start, and Doug moved to Pedal Steel for the restart. Lu mentions that she wants to get Amos to sing on the new album.
Trying To Get To Heaven
Those Three Days
Protection
Come On
Seeing Black (alternate on setlist was Little Rock Star)
Out of Touch (man, I missed Doug)
Unsuffer Me (setlist alternate was Cross)
Change the Locks
Honey Bee
Joy (Lu joined by Amos, Amy and her guitarist for much of the end of the show)(skipped the listed first encore of Ain’t Got no home or Hard Time)
Blessed (alternate FWIW)
Rockin in the Free World (not 100% on the order of the last 2–think a week of travel was catching up to me)
Get Right With GodThanks Lu!

So often Lu comes up with an unannounced guest, in this case Amos.
I didn’t see Amos when he was touring last year with Lu but did catch his show in Toronto last November with Bo Ramsay and Pieta Brown. Would be great if Amos appears on Lu’s next record.Glad to see “Blue” on the list, maybe someday Lu will perform the
“Rarity” song too.(another of my favorites)lwj
p.s. to Friendly Forum member Lafayette-If you only knew you could have hopped the Amtrak in Cinci to Penn Station for this Lu / Amos combo.
August 11, 2012 at 2:25 pm #50341stogerParticipantGood work, Visions. I must have been close to you up front; we’ll meet next time maybe.
A few addenda: Lu plugged the Woodstock/Helm event after song 8.
She introduced “Protection” as just that: one-word truncated title. Afterwards, she returned to the Amos Lee motif, saying his brand of “blue-eyed soul” would work well in the studio on that song.
After “Honeybee,” Lu compared it to the Ramones and Johnny Thunder.
Betty LaVette got a nod before “Joy.”
Yes, “Get Right” came before “rockin in the free world.” A propos of the latter, Mr. Lee (back on stage) was lauded further, Philly being his hometown and Lu headed that way for a Sat. afternoon benefit for labor (“the left side”). Lu mentioned that it was a last-minute show, but she is looking forward.
A great run, thanks to all–let’s hear some setlists and reports, and I’ll see some more folks down the line….

August 13, 2012 at 4:18 am #50344LafayetteParticipantlwj…I had a very busy week last week and I was looking and looking at the NYC shows trying to squeeze one in. You have no idea how close I was to going to this show. [] <----that close.
