Personal highlights were Cross To Bear and Rocking in the Free World. Don’t think I’ve seen Lu sing with such soul during Cross To Bear. Wow, she really let go.

The only downer of the evening was not hooking up with any FF buddies! I thought for sure a front and center stance would guarantee renewed hellos, but no. Stayed around until near 1:00 a.m. When we had to rush for the last shuttle bus.

NIce job, Randy; I sacrificed “front and center” to see some of James McMurtry’s set in TN, so by the time I crossed back over to the Virginia side about 10:35 (a grueling eighth of a mile trek), it was pretty dense up there. I stood near the Mark Humphrey-less sound booth. Surprised you didn’t exit left of the Piedmont stage after the set and walk around to the bus, where security was non-existent and only five people joined me in waiting until Lu re-emerged from the bus. But I guess by that point it was after the last shuttle.

Yeah, she nailed the Allman Bros. cover, saying “That was f a” afterward. I’m afraid, lwj, that Lu’s choice to speak a little French after “Crescent City” was largely lost upon the “mountain folks” (Railroad’s phrase) of Appalachia, but it was a nice effort. One of the smoothest, most seamless shows I’ve ever seen. I believe it was Stuart’s second time ever on “People Talkin’,” and while I miss Doug’s electric mandolin, the song was nailed beautifully.

Beyond that, I can only yield to LWJ’s vicarious cyber-stream report, error-free. Soon we in-person folk will be obsolete in our reportage. Until such time, who’s making Philly?

You could tell from the broadcast that Lu +band mates work together so well- It put a smile on my face when Lucinda tapped on David Sutton’s shoulder right after Rockin’ in the Free World and both were beaming.
Maybe the Heritage TV channel will archive some of the concert.
