So I went over to Rasputin Records last night in Pleasant Hill, CA and found a copy of Little Honey in the vinyl section. I took it to the counter and the sales girl said, “Wow, you’re the fourth person who has bought this on vinyl today!”

just picked it up in SF and I’m curious: is everyone else’s vinyl copy missing a lyric sheet? Found it odd that one wasn’t included.
October 16, 2008 at 12:24 am #37613parkercaParticipantI don’t have one either. I think it is meant that way. I do however have A “D-Side” on both lp’s.
You might check yours to see if you got the same deal.October 16, 2008 at 3:39 am #37614Moz77ParticipantCool….no worries, this isnt really a “lyric driven” album…….
the pressing sounds good, thankfully 🙂October 17, 2008 at 1:50 am #37615stevarinoParticipantOK a question for the posters in this thread. Why vinyl? I still have my Technics direct drive and lots of vinyl albums which I listen to often, but I’ve been converting then digitaly at high sample rates to MP3 files. Tell me why you prefer the vinyl version or the album? Do you think its a richer sound, or do you like the larger artwork, or are you just hanging on to an earlier tradition, ?
October 17, 2008 at 3:00 am #37616parkercaParticipantSpeaking for myself, I like the way it sounds on my turntable. I don’t buy everything in vinyl. I have bought her last couple of albums on vinyl. I also buy it on cd.
Plus… If you go to the show and get to meet her, it looks pretty cool hanging signed on the wall.October 17, 2008 at 2:07 pm #37617vinylfanParticipantI do think the vinyl sounds better but that is only an opinion. I also buy the c.d.’s but there is something about putting a record on. I record the vinyl and do not compress the files. This is an equipment thing but I like the recorded vinyl better than the c.d.’s MOST of the time. Also depends on the quality of the vinyl pressing. Some Lost Highway records I have purchased seem to have a “film” on them and require quite a bit of cleaning even when brand new – I certainly do not like this – but I haven’t had that problem with W.W.T. , Live Filmore, West or Little Honey.
And there’s nothing like handing an artist the record, getting it signed, and putting it up on my wall. Yeah, I’m a geek.
October 17, 2008 at 7:43 pm #37618Hot_BloodedParticipant^ I did that with “West,” and I only bought the vinyl for that purpose. No regrets. It looks terrific, and she was so nice to do it for me.
October 18, 2008 at 12:22 am #37619stevarinoParticipantUnderstood, understood understood. I’ve got 8 framed album covers on my entertainment room walls, but they are all around 30 years old or more. So yeah, a signed one of Lucinda’s Self Titled Album would look great up there. I hope she gets rights to that album back soon. Dang, I should have stuck around after the Columbus show to have her sign that T-shirt.
I converted my vinyl to digital to load onto my ipod which I use primarily when I travel so I don’t have to throw a peach crate into my carry on. I still put the vinyl on my turntable to listen at home. Recently had to buy a new Discwasher brush and D4 solution refill. Probably need to replace my 20-some year old needle cartridge too.
October 18, 2008 at 2:28 pm #37620parkercaParticipantInside Job said that the Self Titled is being re released early next year in the “deluxe” format.
The bonus disc is a dvd with the Live self titled show from LA last year.October 18, 2008 at 7:17 pm #37621stevarinoParticipantAwesome, another Lucinda Concert DVD to buy, I already have the CD from that concert, and love how she sings “Like a Rose” twice all the way through. That will be fun to see on the screen. I hope the DVD includes the second set of songs that aren’t on the live CD. That would probably get more people to buy it.
