A fine night, Lu shrugging off the minor lapses and bringing the reserved seat crowd to its feet for the finale songs. Tornadoes, flash floods, and snow within 24 hours were the forecasts, and as I drove through northern Alabama the local NPR affiliate was more specific; then, Alabama made the news summary of the national “All Things Considered” broadcast, with more of the same dire weather talk. But TN Tracy, I, and others braved the elements for a goodie. As for the aftershow, well, I’ll let TN say more if he chooses. Suffice to say here: A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. Susannah reported from the merch booth that Fayetteville sales were the best of the tour, per capita (in relation to the relatively low capacity of the house there). And I believe that tonight in Atlanta marks the debut of “rebates” to those buying merch, to offset some of the TicketBastard/Live Nation fees T Overby (and Lu herself) are upset about. So come early, spend much. There’s goin’ be some call and response in a building which calls itself the Tabernacle, I feel sure. Hallelujah.

Addendum: can’t believe I forgot to note that Lu partly attributed her Little Rock Star difficulties to a leak in the tour bus roof on the overnight drive from Arkansas: add that little nugget to my meterological ramblings!

Yep, great show, good review, stoger. Thanks, as always for being the forum archivist with the always-accurate setlist. I was blown away by the song selction last night. So many gems, so many firsts for me personally. It was a show for the ages.

Heh heh. Well, stoger, mama always warned me about being one of those “kiss and tell” kinda guys. I’ll just say that I never thought finding a open bar in Birmingham on a Friday night would be such a challenge. But, in the end, persistence is a virtue – “seek & ye shall find”. 😉 I’d like to wholeheartedly thank all who participated in the seeking – “A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL”, indeed. “A night I will never forget” is the understatement of the year. 😉

Oh, and thanks for letting me “make a pallet on your floor” last night, stoger (“Atlanta Blues” – how apropos!). I was up with the dawn, the drive home was uneventful, & I will see you tonight!

So who is playing Doug’s parts? The Chet? How is the new guitarist?

I am still depressed about having to miss this concert-I had a great seat, and was totally ready for it, but unfortunately, family illness and the gawdawful weather kept me home. I live way out in the sticks, so the drive would’ve been treacherous, to say the least. It sounds like my dream concert–“Motherless Children” is one of my favorites. Glad it was a night to remember for all of you who did attend, though!

Some Chet, some Eric (the new guitarist). I noted at the Atlanta show that Chet took lead during “Pineola”. And Eric showed both in B’ham & Atlanta that he has quickly gotten up to speed on the lead for “Out Of Touch” (B’ham) and “Tears of Joy” (Both B’ham & Atlanta). The latter, especially, deserves special mention. Stoger pointed out as we were chatting prior to the Atlanta show that Eric did a particularly admirable job on “Tears of Joy” the night before in B’ham, so when they played it again last night in Atlanta, I paid special attention and stoger was right – he nailed it. Very impressive. Eric is fitting in very, very well, so fear not – all is well in “Lu Nation”… 😉
