Just wondering as to the “Live” recorded favorites of other user’s here ?
I am of the opinion that “Little Feat -Waiting For Columbus” is as good as it gets,and here it is some 25+ years later…….let’s have some other opinions,I’m sure there’ll be some. 😀

Ah, the Allman Brothers Live at the Atlanta International Pop Festival – lesser known than Fillmore East, but every bit as good, IMHO. And the “Introduction” is not to be missed w/ the dude talking about human sperm spinning the egg with their tails in a “primordial dance” – so very 60’s!
And, you are close on the Lynyrd Skynyrd live album title – it was One More From The Road – excellent live Skynyrd, indeed. That live set has an Atlanta connection as well – it was recorded in 1976 in Atlanta’s “Fabulous” Fox Theater, a grand old movie palace built in the late 1920’s, originally as the Yaarab Temple Shrine Mosque.
As for my inclusion in this list (other than many others already mentioned), one of my favorite live album’s in Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged In New York. Even if you are not a fan of Nirvana’s & you haven’t heard this album, you really need to give it a listen. Recorded less than 6 months before Kurt Cobain committed suicide, the album, as it’s Wikipedia entry states, “was hailed by critics as proof the band was able to transcend the grunge sound they were commonly associated with.” The set includes some incredible covers, including David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World”, Lead Belly’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”, the Vaselines’ “Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam”, and three Meat Puppets covers, including the incredible “Lake of Fire”. This is a fantastic, haunting & emotional performance – and the DVD is even better.
Here’s one for you: King Curtis, “Live at Fillmore East” …or was it west? King does a Zeppilin tune and his own “Memphis Soul Stew”…not a bad cut on the record. It was recorded at the same time as the Aretha live record recently released on CD. For those who are not familiar with King Curtis, he was a HOT sax player who began to get noticed in the 1950s as the Coasters saxman, then went on to do sessions for folks while releasing his own music. He was murdered (robbery) in NYC in the early seventies…GREAT PLAYER!

Just want to mention a new live record (CD & DVD’s) that has just been released by two of the best musicians in this or any other era. Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood got together for three great shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC in late February. The shows were filmed & recorded. To call these two men masters is almost an understatement. The way they play and feed off each other is a breath of fresh air. They do all of the Blind Faith album except for one song, some Cream, Traffic and songs from their own solo careers. Also cover two Jimi Hendrix songs; “Voodoo Chile” (which Steve played organ on on the original recording), and “Little Wing” (which Eric recorded with Derek & The Dominoes). Amazing music here, and I would suggest the DVD version. Great sound and camera work. They are out touring together right now in the States and the last show will be June 30 at The Hollywood Bowl.
I’ve been cruising Half Price Books when I get the chance. It’s amazing what you can find on CD these days. Live CDs? I picked up a couple of CDs I did not know existed: Son House: “Live at the Gaslight” (about 1964) and “Howlin’ Wolf Live” (I’d guess around 1960). The Howlin” Wolf record had no info on it…some kind of import bootleg. The audio quality is good and it’s a great show. The Son House record may have been around but I had never seen it…classic (he taught R. Johnson everything he knew–it had nothing to do with a “devil” at the crossroads).
