I was somewhat disappointed by the Baltimore show. The sound was too much Buick 6 and not enough Lucinda. I was on the balcony which could have had some impact, but I really think the mix was wrong. I hadn’t seen Lu since NYC last fall, having missed the 930 Club last spring. The crowd was rather sparse (a plus). I’d guess attendance at the last Ram’s Head show was at least 30% higher.

Having followed Lu since about 1988 when I saw my first show, I was thrilled by the set and the 30 years anniversary coverage. Most songs were from the self-titled album. The crowd obviously preferred the harder rocking songs. From the balcony it was great seeing how many fans were singing every word of every song. A new song would have been a nice addition.

I’m a lifetime fan. One show that isn’t stellar isn’t going to discourage me. I’m just saying it wasn’t in the top six of the last ten I’ve seen. The range of the set list was a redeeming factor. I always want to hear Lake Charles, which didn’t make it.

Thanks for your thoughts on the show, lucfan4ever.

If you can remember any specific songs Lu played, could you post them please?

I really don’t agree with Lucfan’s assessment of the show. I thought it was an absolutely wonderful show and a great retrospective of her career. Lucinda was really on her game. Her voice was strong and she really seemed to be having a good time with the show. The crowd was very appreciative and there seemed to be a real back and forth.

My only complaint about it, which had nothing to do with the performance, is the number of people who insist upon having long conversations during the show at the top of their lungs to compete with the volume of the music. If you want to chit chat, move to the back of the venue, or don’t go and save the money. I for one hate spending the money to listen to people other than the performer.

Oh man, you just hit on my number one pet peeve. “Chit chat” during a performance drives me absolutely ape-shit. Not only is rude to everyone around, but it is also rude to the performer.

Well said & welcome to the forum, FTW…

I was there but can’t recall the whole set list and was hoping someone would post. lucfan4ever’s list is not 100% correct. But a good attempt, thanks – I couldn’t get it right myself either. I know she did not play Bus to Baton Rouge, although I was hoping. She did play Out of Touch. Also, did not play I Lost It twice. Did she play I Envy the WInd? Its ringing in my head but maybe thats from playing the album this week.

I felt the same way about the show as lucfan4ever regarding the balance of Lucinda and the band. I really enjoyed the beginning of the show with her early career songs. I missed Doug Pettibone. I am thinking that perhaps the last time I saw Lu (2005), Doug Pettibone was the only guitar player. That may account for the difference in the sound.

And, this isn’t complete and may not be in exact order, but here’s what I recall from the show:

    Ramblin’ on My Mind
    Jambalaya
    The Night’s Too Long
    Cresent City
Something About What Happens When We Talk
    I Lost It
    Essence
    Righteously
Real Live Bleeding Fingers and Broken Guitar Strings
    Unsuffer Me
    Honey Bee
    Encore:
    Nothing in Rambling
    Joy
It’s a Long Way to the Top (AC/DC cover)

Wow, duelling set lists–quite a discrepancy between the two. Only those anonymous ground-floor setlisting-texters know for sure. “Louisiana Man?” Inside Job, did she really and truly do this one? It would in fact be cool if “I Lost It” got played twice, the first time with Lucinda’s brief sexy laugh prologuing it a la the studio record, but I suspect it was done only in the Car Wheels on a GRAVEL (though these type of paths could be “Broken”) Road portion of the evening. Perhaps a Ramshead regular could clarify the actual tunes and sequencing, or else IJ/TO?

A Happy Woman Blues-esque arrangement of I Lost It would definitely be cool to hear.

stoger – not a set list duel. i didn’t see that lufan4ever had posted a complete list until after i posted my pathetic little incomplete list.

Sorely missing Doug Pettibone! Did not want to write that because I was feeling guilty that I had been away from the forum so long and wasn’t prepared for it. Then I saw Doug was in town (DC) with Marianne Faithful last night or so. Lazy to ask here, but what happened? I know I should just research and it must be on the forum somewhere. Also wondering what happened to Inside Job, I thought he always posted the set list.

What I also missed was a duet. Maybe I got spoiled attending the NYC shows when all kinds of other musicians would show up, but Lu and Doug doing Jailhouse Tears also worked just fine for me. Since the show I bought the Steve Earle CD just to listen to “You’re Still Standing There,” my favorite (recorded w/Lu) duet. I also re-listened to the self titled and Sweet Old World cd’s to get my fill of hearing Lu very clearly. Rather than reliving the show in my mind, I needed to search out what i wanted to hear. Maybe that’s the best summary of the show I can offer.

Sorry! She didn’t do any songs twice. I was only trying for the approximate order and totally going on memory, so I gladly endorse most corrections.
