Welcome back to the East.
Sure sounds like a dream road trip.
Your reports along wih the other Friendly Forum reporters were superb. Many were done in the wee hours post concert.
Just 2 or 3 comments / questions for you.1. Did you get your camera to function properly ? Us folks not attending have yet to hear any of the new songs.
2. Did you have enough time to see the art deco Queen Mary ?
3. How were the dogs in Julian ? 😆 Was sharp Canadian cheddar cheese ( a la Butch ) available as a topping ?[attachment=0:n47r6aso]Diggity Dog House.jpg[/attachment:n47r6aso]

1. Nope. I got a few still shots at the Mountain Winery that I already posted (I think – I’ll check). As I mentioned before, they took my video camera there on the way in. At Long Beach, also as reported before, the video I took was worthless. I haven’t checked my still shots yet – if they came out, I’ll post them later. Finally, I didn’t take a camera of camcorder to the San Diego show – good thing, too, as Humphrey’s security was taking all cameras at the gate.
2. Nope. Got a picture of it though from the deck of the Maya Hotel where we had pre-show drinks & munchies with KJR, his wife & his cousin.
3. VERY good. I got the “Southern Dog” with mustard, chili, onions & slaw. The slaw was not “Southern style” (too much mustard), but it was still a mighty tasty dog. No cheese on mine, but they did offer cheddar (Tillamook from the Oregon coast I would hope)…

August 31, 2010 at 1:53 pm #43730LafayetteParticipantI am going to temporarily hijack this thread. EVERYONE knows you just don’t put cheese on a hotdog without chili between the dog and the cheese.
http://www.skylinechili.com/
My sister and her two boys recently visited from L.A. (her last visit was three years ago) and the first request, unanimous on all three counts, on the drive home from the airport, was to stop at Skyline chili.
I’ll have to deliver some Skyline chili dogs to Butch the next time he’s in our friendly city.
August 31, 2010 at 7:53 pm #43731BLUE TRANEParticipantCould someone post a photo of the whole band together? Either at the end of a show, or some other time would be great!

.I’ll hijack this as well.
Yes, Lafayette the Skyline Chili menu certainly looks appetizing ( love the shredded cheese ), however what about the Tastee-Freeze variety that Jack and Diane preferred way back in 1982? 😆John Mellencamp Jack and Diane Lyrics-1982
Little ditty about jack and diane
Two american kids growin up in the heartland
Jackies gonna be a football star
Diane debutante backseat of jackies carSuckin on chilli dogs outside the tastee freeze
Diane sittin on jackies lapI won’t post the rest of the lyrics as they might be a little too racy for our Moderator.

Best I could find BLUE TRANE of photos for the current band other than videos already posted on You Tube and in this Forum.
Y’all will have to be content with 2 photos ( can’t find one of the whole band on the tour just past ) and these are from Queen Mary Park in Long Beach on August 26.First one shows David Sutton on bass, Lu of course and Butch Norton on drums.
Second one is the newest member Val McCallum on guitar.[attachment=1:19ss74c3]Long Beach-David Sutton, Lu , Butch Norton.jpg[/attachment:19ss74c3][attachment=0:19ss74c3]Long Beach-Val McCallum.jpg[/attachment:19ss74c3]lwj
September 1, 2010 at 7:47 pm #43734BLUE TRANEParticipantThanks for posting these photos. I was thinking of either a stage shot at the end of a show where they are all standing together, or a photo that is from offstage of everyone together. I do not think I have ever seen one like this of the whole band before.
September 6, 2010 at 5:05 am #43735tntracyParticipantTOverby just sent me something really cool to post here in the forum. It is the worksheet he & Lu used to keep track of all the Facebook & forum song requests they received for the West Coast shows in August. Not only does it show the great attention to detail paid to all the requests, but it also has some enticing covers / rarities scribbled in the margins. Something to look forward to in the future, perhaps? 😉
The deal is, the worksheet is pretty large. There is a maximum dimension (in pixels) of image file that can be displayed inline in a forum post using the IMG tags and, shrunk down to that size, the writing was too small to read (at least for my eyes). So, I hosted a 348 KB, 1272 x 983 pixel resized copy as a JPEG file on some Internet disk space I have. Here is the link to download the JPEG file. Just click on the link and you should be prompted to specify a place on your computer’s disk drive to save a copy.
If anyone has any trouble downloading a copy, please let me know via PM & I can e-mail you one.

September 6, 2010 at 3:12 pm #43736LafayetteParticipantVery cool! Long Beach had the most requests, by far. It appeared the requests were “all over the map,” not one standing out as a constant. 2 Kool, Crescent City, and I Just Wanted To See You So Bad would have been my shout outs.
September 7, 2010 at 12:53 am #43737LafayetteParticipantThe things you learn on facebook. Apparently, Metal Firecracker was requested for a majority of the shows? How did I miss that?

TomTOverby mentioned on the Face Book site that there was even one request that was recorded during West but was never released and wasn’t sure how anyone would have known about it. Later he said the song was “Doors of Heaven”
Here it is from Lu’s NPR show from the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC August 7, 2005.
It’s the 2nd last song on the set list in the encore starting at the 2 hour 2 minute time of the entire 2 hour and 16 minute live show.
Have a listen to the whole performance if you haven’t allready done so.

If so, I’m in that minority, too!
