And we of you! At the Eugene show, billed as “An Evening With Lucinda Williams” and w/o an opener, you could very well see Lu’s longest set of this “mini-tour”! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    I know!!!

My wife Michelle will not be able to make that one out of the three and is (righteously) bummed.
So I am going to have to downplay my enthusiasm about that one a little…but it does have the potential to be the best of the northwest shows.

Portland is always a good crowd though, and the Redmond show (festival) is outdoors… that’s always a plus!

    Three days/nights.. three Lucinda shows.
Should be a great three days…

After many complications we have finally confirmed the rest of the August shows. I am also thrilled to be able to say that we will have JP, Chrissie and the Fairground Boys opening on some of the shows. This is Chrissie Hynde’s new side project that she is very excited about.
I am also happy to be able to add that only the Saratoga show is a Live Nation show, which should keep the additional fees down:

Afraid not, Tom, with all due respect, on the “additional fees” issue. Paul, you’re right about availability for Ventura this weekend. Here it is:

    39.50 base
    2.50 facility charge
    10.55 convenience charge
    _____
    52.55 “subtotal”

But I’m not done. Ticketmaster then asked for my account info and password, then:

    4.40 order processing fee
    4.00 standard mail fee

I’ve NEVER been asked to pay the last item with Ticketmaster, and there’s no will call option. I don’t think I’ve been asked to pay the order processing fee ever either.

So there you have it: 60.95 total on a base ticket of under forty bucks. I leave it to others, engineers perhaps, to do the computation and the exact percentage mark-up. I know this is out of your control, Tom, but it’s discouraging in light of past efforts to fight this issue and Lucinda’s outspoken comments from the stage concerning it. I’m afraid even deep Susannah-administered merch discounts will go only so far in appeasing fans here.

Think I’ll take a little something down off the shelf, maybe something sour, and ponder before committing.

    8/17-Ventura
    8/18-Saratoga Mt. Winery (no Chrissie)
    8/20-Eugene (no Chrissie)
8/21-Redmond (Seattle) No Depression Festival (no Chrissie)
    8/22-Portland (no Chrissie)
    8/24-Sacramento (tentative)
    25-Napa
    26-Long Beach (Queen Mary)
    27-San Diego (Humphreys)

What? 50% markup for fees alone? That’s criminal! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ And, I think they missed one. What about the “oxygen fee” for the air you’ll breathe in the venue?!?! ๐Ÿ˜ก

Something must be wrong. Whatever it is, I hope it doesn’t occur, or at least is “fixed” by next weekend when the San Diego tickets go on sale!

In reply to stoger, regarding the Ventura show: I was annoyed to see no TicketFast “Print at Home”, and to pay Ticketmaster $4.00 for a 44 cent stamp–so I wasted some gasoline, and drove to a local Ticketmaster outlet, and purchased the $54.50 VIP ticket for $68.10–that percentage doesn’t seem quite as bad. Of course, that only works because Ventura is in the Los Angeles local Ticketmaster outlet zone.

In reply to Tom Tracy: I priced a dummy purchase for Humphrey’s, using another performer, currently on-sale:
    55.00 ticket
    11.60 Convenience charge
    5.65 Order Processing Fee
No charge for US Mail, 2.50 for TicketFast,
    which totals $72.25 or $74.75.

I avoid Humphrey’s for my own personal biases, so I will not be contributing to the Ticketmaster revenue for that show. I’ll look forward to a report.

Incidentally, when was the last time Lucinda played 4 shows in 4 nights in 4 different cities, at least 50 miles apart?

Yes, Paul, I looked at the VIP option too, but the online process had the same fees in proportion. Only in LA I guess, where one can drive anywhere, could you pull this off; I wouldn’t have a clue where to locate a physical Ticketmaster office in my neck of the woods–and might strangle an employee if I did show up. By the way, did you get an explanation of what “VIP” means for this show? As far as seating, it’s the same GA scramble, isn’t it?

Ventura fees aside, I encourage Friendly Forum members to…

    Come out west and see
The best that it could be
I know you wonโ€™t stay permanently
But come out west and see

It’ll be a great opportunity to see some old friends & make some new ones!

Thx for the heads up on tickets. I’m down for Ventura.

There are a few cool places for drinks and eats before the show. The Watermark is across the street, Zoeys a few blocks away on East Santa Clara, Anacapa Brewing on East Main St. a block away.

    See everyone somewhere.

It looks as though the venue has a “dance floor” directly in front of the VIP section, which appears to be a seated area. I would surmise that the dance floor would allow for your GA scramble.

The theatre has four (4) tiers and balcony all with excellent acoustics and tremendous view of
the stage from any location. These areas can be utilized exclusively or combined:

Dance floor directly in front of the stage
2nd Tier Raised area for VIP seating
    3rd Tier Cabaret Seating
Main Bar with seating /or reception-standing area
Balcony has breathtaking views along with its own foyer/reception area.
The main foyer is spacious and allows for cases, merchandise and display area.
Green Room and other back stage amenities are outstanding

Additional info on venue below. Lots of rules, with one in particular I found amusing. Apparently, for hip hop shows..”pants must be worn.” Yes, you may color me naive.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I am stunned and reaching out Lucinda’s agent immediately.
