Check out this review of Lucinda’s show in Auckland. She was joined by Steve Earle for the encore.

The encore set was definitely the highlight, not just because of Steve, but the songs played, the Joy version was particularly impressive. However a Tuesday night out was not a night for ‘groovers’ with next to nobody dancing in the aisles like last time. A lot of chair dancing, thigh slapping and foot tapping going on though.
I spent most of my time along the wall with one or all of my 3 kids (6, 8 & 10) so we could dance etc – but get this – some lady came and told me that I should leave with my children because she thinks it was an R18 venue 😡 Anyhow she was wrong, but it put a dampener on my night, especially when I know Lucinda likes to see people dancing and having a good time.
So we took our kids to their first concert of music they know well, yes it was a late night, they were a bit fidgety, but I kept them away from people, and tried to show them a good time, listening to live music, seeing real artists perform, and giving them an opportunity they may not have again – and some moaning minnie has to come and try to ruin it for us.
Overall we enjoyed the night, great to hear a real mix of Lu’s music from her career, and the volume was perfect. Thanks for coming back!

Very memorable wedding anniversary night for my wife and I…we last saw Lu at the Gluepot back in the 90’s when she wore a pink tutu on stage…she’s just got better with age…vocals, lyrics, phrasing and a rocking band who looked like they were having a lot of fun towards the end of the set…we didn’t have the best tickets & were stuck way up on the 3rd balcony peering down, but four songs in we were hooked…very very raw & real…feel genuinely blessed to be there…thanks so much for coming to NZ!!
one disappointment…what were they thinking putting on that australian karioke caricature…was he trying to be a comedian, country impersonator or what???…funny guy, but his songs were so secondary to his act, definitely in the wrong place…NZ has a strong line-up of quality female singer/songwriters who have learned a lot from Lu and would jump at the chance to open up for her and treat the crowd on a special night…i’m not sure of the politics involved but maybe the promoter could do better next time…peace, love & let the revolution roll

will you be my mommy, ma’am?

PLEASE, tell me that somebody taped this!?!
