Let’s try this one: If Lu plays a show and no FF member is there, does it make a sound? 🙄

There is a photo of the audience and the Dallas skyline, on the Facebook page of the Kenneth Brian Band.
The photo could use a bit more resolution, but it does suggest the ambience of the evening.

I can’t answer philosopher Tony’s question, though I do appreciate Paul trying to dig up some visuals. Perhaps Kenneth Brian or Lillie Mae Rische or someone else in the band will supplement this with some data at some point. Meanwhile, I guess I can cover the looming OTHER Lone Star gig.

It’s 100 degrees here in Austin. Stay hydrated, you carry a heavy burden

good lord. And by the way, I don’t know of any restaurants other than the indoors Stubbs nearby, though there must be. You realize the concert is out of doors, in the three-figure heat 👿 May be a relativelymild 90’s reading by showtime though.

Thanks for the info. Seems to have cooled off a bit, not much. Enjoy the show.

This photo from Dallas was on Lucinda’s facebook yesterday, but is now removed.
I liked the photo so I saved it on my computer before its disappearance.[attachment=0:1ngj07aa]Srauss Square Dallas.jpg[/attachment:1ngj07aa]

so Murph do we have any. . . LETTERS AND WORDS to go with this, or are these things passe? Were you there to say which songs were done in the second set? Thanks for posting these photos.

@Stoger: Sure I have some thoughts about the show. It’s always great to see Lucinda but this was not the best experience I’ve had and I didn’t really want to be negative. I’m a concert photographer and I usually just let my photos speak for themselves, good or bad.

I had never been to this venue before. The design puts you below ground level, kind of in a bowl. It was HOT and there was no breeze. It was somewhat unpleasant, more so than a normal September day in Texas. The sound was excellent, no matter what part of the venue I wandered to. I was glad to get out of there. I really like the fact that it’s a BYOB venue and they allowed food and coolers, as well as having concessions for those who came empty-handed.

The performance was extremely mellow for the first hour while she played most or all of the new album. Nothing earthshattering in my opinion. The second half was a lot more upbeat with familiar selections so my mood changed for the better, but by this time I was soaked. By the time it had ended I was somewhat disappointed that Gravel Road was missing.

Overall I would say that this was a mediocre evening. I’ve been to many Lucinda shows over the years that were a lot more fun, exciting and memorable. The January/13 gig in Dallas at The Kessler was awesome.

I hope that gives you an idea.

    Raymond

Hey, great stuff Raymond: indeed I like photos too, and I was at the Kessler on the so-called “acoustic” tour. Lu’s soundman did comment on the interstate traffic bleeding into the proceedings the other night, so with that and the heat, it’s understandable you liked this one less. But thanks for the words, and it’s true she hasn’t played the title track from Car Wheels on this tour, with this [slightly altered] Pettiboneless band.
