Sweet Americana-folk music. Sounds like Miss Lucinda is an influence.
Do a google search for her or you can hear some of her stuff here:

Oh man, I think that’s some GREAT stuff! I had never heard of her before – thanks for the heads up!! I just listened (twice) to all the sample songs on her MySpace page, and then found & bought two of her CDs on eBay. One is a special edition, 2 CD set of her first album, Dawn’s Music, w/ the second CD having 7 additional tracks that Amazon shows as a download-only album called Straight Lines. The other one I got was her 2006 album, Fireproof. And, now I’m looking forward to the U.S. release of her new album, Sweet Heart Rodeo on Jan 19th.

    Thanks again for the tip!

Well, among my favorites (besides Lu, of course) are Kathleen Edwards & Pieta Brown. Also, Laura Veirs is very good as well.

Tnt-Kathleen is one of my favorites too. Saw her once live.
She is from my home town of Ottawa , ON.

Thought you might like this interview from CBC Television’s The Hour.

Cool, LWJ – Yeah, I saw Kathleen and her guitar player / husband play a tiny club here in Atlanta just a few months ago. It was a great show. And, after the show, she signed a gig poster for me that I bought at her merch table…

Thanks for the link – I’ll be sure & check out the interview.

Cool! Dawn Landes will be opening for Justin Townes Earle at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA January 31st! I’ll be there! 😉

And, Sweet Heart Rodeo will be out in 5 days…

P.S. For those interested, here is a link to the video for “Young Girl” off of the new album…

I,ve visited Dawn’s My Space page and a few You Tubes and I could be easily hooked on her music.
I even think her voice is more than a little like Kathleen Edwards.
Her Luxury Package of goodies with the new album “Sweet Heart Rodeo” is rather smart marketing.
I wish I lived close to a venue like Eddie’s Attic. I have to travel all the way to Toronto for something similar.
You missed nothing from Musicare last night. Only thing that kept Lafayette, tonyg and myself going was our silly banter while hoping to see Lu.
I would take Eddie’s Attic tomorrow night over another awards show in a flash. Of course, we are rooting for Lu.
The problem? with this forum is that we are getting exposed to so much new music as well as Lu. Gotta love it.

We got home about an hour ago from seeing Dawn Landes open for Justin Townes Earle. She put on a great opening act that we enjoyed very, very much. But I must say that the highlight of the evening was the incomparable Justin Townes Earle. He & his band put on such a good show that it warranted a separate thread… 😉

Check out Dawn’s new side project – The Bandana Splits. According to an e-mail Ms. Landes sent out, “It’s an homage to my favorite girl-groups of the 50’s and 60’s à la The Ronettes”. Fun!
