Anne is doing a west coast tour starting tonight at a restaurant in South Pasadena called the Firefly Bistro. She is solo tonight. If it stops pouring out I’m going.

She is playing solo at some bookstore in Morro Bay Friday night and with a band Saturday night at the Castoro Winery near Paso Robles. I’m already ticketed for the Saturday show. The fun news is that my brother and I have been asked if we can staff her merchandise table! Free merchandise for everyone!

If we don’t get fired halfway through maybe I can turn this into a new career.

Great show last night by Anne McCue. It was songwriter night at the restaurant and there were other performers besides Anne, so it wasn’t full on Anne all the time. She was a sweeheart as always. She mostly played acoustic, but did rock out with her electric guitar a couple times, including an awesome solo version of Voodoo Chile. On another electric song, she did this weird thing with her effects board and played a rythm part that she got to repeat, then played another little backing piece that repeated, then played a scorching lead guitar, so she had 3 guitar parts going at once. Impressive.

Paul_from_los_angeles was there so it was another night well represented by the website peeps.

How was the action at the merchandise table, tony? Did you have Visions of Johanna, I mean Susannah, dancing in your head? 🙂

Of course I did. But my night is Saturday. Last night the table was staffed by a lady named Marti. I can’t say it was that busy around the table.

Here are Lucinda and Anne in Flagstaff, AZ May, 2007. Song is Joy.
I had come across this video before but there was no audio.
    Now we have it.
    Enjoy.

    Awesome video.

Last night was stop number 2 on the Anne McCue tour. She played in a wedding chapel behind a bookstore in Morro Bay in front of about 50 people. She played acoustic and electric guitars, lap steel, and a tiny red ukelele. Many folks in the crowd said they saw her open for LW in San Luis Obispo years ago.

My next and final night on the tour is tonight at a winery in Templeton. Anne said she would play with a band tonight.

Winery touring is on the schedule today. It is a bright sunny morning and is expected to get up to 80 today.

The show last night at the Castoro Cellars in Templeton was a big winner. After a very warm day touring wineries we made it over to the vineyard and set up the merchandise table and started drinkin wine. The show was held in a function room next to the tasting room, although it was warm enough to play outside. The doors were open to a patio deck where people were sitting at tables drinking wine. In fact, everyone seemed to have their own wine bottle and glass. Lucinda would love this place.

Anne was accompanied by Dusty Wakeman on bass and Dave Raven on drums. I’d say there were about 250 people in this room. The band was smoking. They did a lot of the electric numbers from Broken Promise Land and Koala Motel. Anne covered Roxanne again, as she did solo from the night before in Morro Bay.

At the break we kicked major butt on the CDs. Good thing Anne had us count the CDs first because they were selling so fast we lost count and I had to reconcile the money against the number of CDs left.

The second set was again awesome and I got thanked from the stage by Anne! So I came home happy.

Thanks for sharing that video, LWJ! I was at that show! One of my buddies and I were celebrating our 45th birthdays that year and decided to do a “Thelma and Louise” tour of the West based around Lu’s shows in Flagstaff and Phoenix. 1800 miles in the car in less than 6 days, saw all kinds of natural and unnatural wonders, and no one was killed and no cars went off cliffs.

I saw Anne in Nashville at the Americana Awards in September, and mentioned this show. She laughed and referred to it as something like the No Oxygen show because of the high altitude. 😀

    Thanks again. 🙂

    Most welcome West Words.
As I reported earlier, I had seen the Flagstaff video before without audio.
What a guitar “duel” between Doug P. and Anne half way through.
I hope you and your buddy weren’t chased by the LAW in your “Thelma and Louise ” tour.
I have the movie DVD. a classic and of course, we know Lu recently covered Marianne Faithfull’s “The Ballad of Lucy Jordan” which was in the movie soundtrack.
Here is a very recent live in studio performance ( The Wood and Stone Room in Baltimore, MD )
Song is “Lonesome Child” from the album “Broken Promise Land”.
    Awesome .

Really a nice radio interview from Australia called Rockbrat Radio on Sep.27, 2010 with Anne at her home in Nashville.
She talks about her early life and career.
    Love that Aussie accent.

Here is Anne from the Club Cafe in Pittsburg earlier this week.(Oct.19th)
A very haunting sound , Anne covering Hendrix “Voodoo Chile” which is on Anne’s 2002 album “Ballad of an Outlaw Woman”-recorded in SF while touring with Lu.

For tonyg and all other Anne fans, let’s see her very industrious and humorous side.
Anne struggles along with a friend to get her new piano home done in glorious B&W.
Surprisingly, the piano will still play Scott Joplin when it finally arrives at her home.
