Most excellent for you Parma was added to her show list! She’s added another Southgate House date to her calendar on Nov 16, one I think I can make. Her Dayton show I had planned on attending, the night after Parma, I realized I will be in Indianapolis at an Amos show. Her SH gig on Sept 14 finds me chasing the kid around during the day at a Cross Country meet followed by a UC football night game. I’m not sure my better half (or myself) will have enough gas to stop in and catch her set.
New full length record “Hey Kid” set for a January 21/14 release.
In the meantime Angela continues her retro theme of old style videos for the upcoming holiday season.
Again, playing the hand saw is featured.

She’s released the first single, “Hurricane” from “Hey Kid.” Apparently, ESPN/ABC featured the song during the USC v. UCLA game on Saturday. The band was pumped from their facebook postings.

Classics have been Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, The Carter Family, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. More modern artists have been Lucinda Williams, Iris Dement, Jack White, The Black Keys, Holly Golightly, and Jenny Lewis.
7. How do you get yourself psyched up to play a show?
Lately the band and I have been cruising to shows screaming along to Black Sabbath and the Heartless Bastards… so magical- gets us fired up instantly. Whiskey, vodka tonics, beer, boots, dresses, and hats get me in the zone as well.

I had invited Angela to a “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” show in Columbus after a ticket became available the day of the show. She couldn’t make it because she was filming for parts of this video – the car scenes.
Press release on reverb compares her to Lucinda Williams (several times), Wanda Jackson, Patsy Cline, and Over The Rhine, among others. Keep your eye on this girl.

Finally, I uploaded Angela’s cover of “Greenville,” from this past summer. I was talking to her, as well as her lead guitar player, Chris, on a break at a show at Southgate House, and the conversation steered towards Lu. They played “Greenville” for me during their next set.

She told me it was the only Lu song they cover(ed) (at present), and yes, they remembered. 8)

Lake effect snow and brrrr! cold weather storm advisory is in effect from Buffalo thru to the PA border.Would have been great to get an autographed “Hey Kid” album from this Cleveland suburbs venue (it’s a bowling alley-I’ve been in a bowling league for eons.), but I’ll have to wait for better weather, we just got over a nasty ice storm here in Ontario.

“Athens” (Ohio) (she is an Ohio University Alum). She graduated with a literature background. She had short term plans to be a teacher. Turned to music, instead.
