Amos in the LA area Jan. 27 at the Music Box. A Lucinda Williams appearance? I would bet it would make his 2011. Just sayin’.

Too bad Amos is not appearing the day before as it is Lucinda’s birthday.
Just imagine Tom O taking his bride out for a nice dinner and then some fine music at the Music Box.
Why, just imagine Amos calling out “C’mon Lu join me on stage for”:

I guess I can now post this full “Clear Blue Eyes” since Mission Bell is now available for previews.

Then, he traveled down to Arizona to work with Calexico, the Tucson veterans whose music mingles American and Latino influences. And Lee even invited two of his heroes—Lucinda Williams and Willie Nelson—to sing on his first recorded duets.
January 26, 2011 at 10:12 pm #41046LWjettaParticipantMission Bell is getting a lot of exposure.

January 27, 2011 at 12:21 am #41047tntracyParticipantAmazon.com now has Mission Bell on CD for the unbelievably low price of $6.99…
They even refunded me $3.00 because I pre-ordered it for $9.99!

Tom
Why the practically give away price of $6.99 for a very well promoted and great CD with rave reviews complete with liner notes I presume as opposed to $0.99 mp3 per song downloads?
Amos is selling himself way short in my opinion on his royalties or is it entirely Amazon’s doing?lwj
$12.99 here in CanadaJanuary 29, 2011 at 3:22 pm #41049LWjettaParticipant@Lafayette wrote:

Good job, supersleuth AKA lwj.
I was looking for a Lu appearance by searching the web and news and found nothing. I hadn’t tried YouTube. Thanks so much! Amazing.
I love how Amos backed up after he sang. Total respect for Lu. Very beautiful song. I’m so happy someone recorded and posted to YouTube.
If only I lived near LA…

MR: How did your Lucinda Williams collaboration come about?
AL: I think Lucinda’s Car Wheels On A Gravel Road was one of the records I was really drawn to when I was first writing songs. Her work as a writer and a singer has always touched me deeply. When we were thinking about that song, to me, there was always a female voice in there singing the second verse. When Joey and I were talking about who we could get to sing the part, I really heard her voice on it. We reached out to her, and she happened to be in the studio at the time, so we sent it over. I feel like, as a listener, she takes the song into a whole other place. It really changed the track for me from something that I liked, to something that absolutely had to be on the album.

Among his heroes: Lee has found some of his strongest support from fellow singer-songwriters. He recently toured with one of his musical heroes, John Prine. “He invited me on stage to sing Paradise with him and play his guitar, that Martin he’s had forever,” Lee says.” Bob Dylan once asked Lee to join him and Elvis Costello to perform I Shall Be Released. And Mission Bell features duets with Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams. “These are people I grew up listening to,” Lee says. “These are people whose records I had before I could even play a C chord.”
March 7, 2011 at 4:42 pm #41053LafayetteParticipantAdele hand picks Amos Lee. All shows are sold out. Amos is referred to as a cult singer. Isn’t our Lu referred to as same, as well as having a cult like following of fans?

Adele has handpicked rising star Amos Lee to accompany her as the support act for her sold-out U.K. tour in September.
London-born singer Adele, whose album 21 is No1 in the American Billboard charts, met Lee in Nashville, after which Adele posted two live YouTube clips of Lee on her blog, saying “I’ve loved [Amos] for ages. Just watched this and I fell a bit more in love with him all over again! Check it out.”
Another Lu mention in this article as well:
Lee, who recently toured with one of his musical heroes, John Prine, has duets with Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams on his new album. Lee said: “These are people I grew up listening to. These are people whose records I had before I could even play a C chord.”

March 26, 2011 at 3:41 am #41056LafayetteParticipantFive questions for Amos Lee. I found his response on what it was like to perform with Bob Dylan & Elvis Costello somewhat fascinating. I tried to copy & paste that question and answer but for the first time I have experienced, was shut out. N/A – not allowed.
