If any one else cannot wait until next year for the official release, here is a link to an advance copy of Mission Bell on eBay. I already gave Lafayette “first dibs” on it via an earlier e-mail, but she “passed” due to recent JM ticket expenditures… đ

I received an email from West Words, alerting me to this find on ebay, as well. đ Love my Lu friends.
November 14, 2010 at 3:00 am #41013LafayetteParticipantI found some info on Lucinda’s appearance on Amos’s record.
http://www.courierpostonline.com/article/20101105/LIFE01/11050308/The-infamous-Amos-Lee
The gamble worked and Lee is preparing to release “Mission Bell,” his fourth album, on Jan. 25, produced by members of the band Calexico and featuring guest artists, including Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams. He said for “Mission Bell” he took time to reflect and really focus on the writing, compared to his first two albums, which were created during the rush of touring.
But it’s hard to hear the rush in Lee’s voice. It can bring back memories that encourage lingering — hazy evenings on the front porch with fireflies dancing across the lawn, or lazy Sunday mornings rolled up in a tangle of sheets.
Nelson calls Lee “an exceptional artist, a true storyteller, unique to his generation,” in publicity materials for the tour.
Lee and Nelson first met when the legendary country singer requested that Lee play his birthday party, Lee said.
From there, it seemed a natural fit to invite Nelson onto the album.Nelson is featured on a reprise of the opening number of “Mission Bell” titled “El Camino.” It is a song Lee describes as “the crux of my life.” It talks about how to balance experience, friendship and familiarity with ambition, growth and moving forward.
Lee delves into the mind of the children of celebrities for his song “Clear Blue Eyes,” which features Williams. On the song, he speculates about parents who decide their needs are greater than those of their offspring.November 14, 2010 at 3:09 am #41014LafayetteParticipanthttp://www.last.fm/music/Amos+Lee
âGreat songwriters donât come around that often. Amos is an exceptional artist,
a true story teller, unique to his generation.â
âWillie NelsonâAmos Lee knows how to use his voice to tell a story with a hint of mystery.â
âLucinda WilliamsFor Amos Lee, the key to his fourth album, Mission Bell, was timeâtaking the time to reflect, to write, and to record songs that lived up to his own expectations.
âMy last two records were a little rushed, because I was touring so much and running around a lot,â he says. âOn this one, I took a year and a half and I just sat at home and wrote. I spent more time alone with these songs than I ever did in the past,â he continues, âwhich I think was really helpful. It was like going to a yard sale or a thrift storeâyou go through the first time and you might see something, but then you have to keep going back and forth because you always find something else there.â
The result is Leeâs richest and most fully formed album to date. Mission Bell, which was produced by Joey Burns of the acclaimed band Calexico, displays both range and cohesion, an array of emotions unified by Leeâs eclectic taste and distinctive vocals. With a remarkable set of guestsâincluding Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Sam Beam (Iron & Wine), James Gadson, Priscilla Ahn, and Pieta Brownâand the musical backing of Calexico, the album marks the arrival of Amos Lee as a mature artist who continues to explore his musical and thematic interests
November 15, 2010 at 3:01 pm #41015LWjettaParticipantAmos has quite the tour lined up to promote “Mission Bell”
I’ve marked down December 3rd on my calendar to listen from Philly. Hope it’s a video performance.Lee will also be touring for the remainder of 2010, including support dates for Dave Matthews Band (November 2-3). On December 3, Leeâs WXPN âFree At Noonâ performance at World CafĂ© in Philadelphia will also be webcast live by NPR Music. WFUV has announced Lee to headline their 6th Annual Holiday Cheer show on December 6 at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. He will also be the featured performer on Levon Helmâs intimate Midnight Ramble concert series in Woodstock, New York, on December 4. See below for a full list of tour dates.
Alas, still no Canada tour venues.

Amos sold out show tonight in Germany, according to a recent FB post, has all proceeds going to help an organization involved with Haiti assistance.
No shows tentatively coming close to me, however, he’s making an LA stop in Jan *cough cough* If I were a jetsetter i would be flying to see this show with hopes Lu would make an appearance. đ

You have some pretty notable guests on it, including Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams. How did you recruit them?
I have a connection to Willie. There were a couple songs where we wanted to have some other voices. I never really had guests on my other records; it’s always just been me. I had Norah [Jones] play on my first one and Lizz Wright. On the last record, I didn’t have any other people singing on it with me. I never had anybody take a verse on one of my songs and we were thinking of people that would sing the songs well and represent them well. We just put it out there to go to the people who we love and respect the art that they make and the way they approach their careers. We were very fortunate to get everybody.

âClear Blue Eyesâ (featuring Lucinda Williams)
Iâm not friends with any celebrities, really, but I see a lot of stuff thatâs happening to people who are children of famous people. That song was in response to someone who I felt was deciding that their needs were greater than their childrenâs needs. I feel for those kids, I really doâitâs hard enough to be sixteen years old without the whole world knowing what the hell is going on with you. We sent Lucinda the track, and she brought a whole different dimension to it. It really completed the circle to have her on there. Iâm a huge fan, so itâs also really humbling.December 2, 2010 at 7:06 pm #41020LWjettaParticipantGreat articles Lafayette.

He makes a previously recorded televised appearance with Zac Brown band on CMT Artist show on Friday at 8:00 pm EST airing on CMT. Unfortunately, CMT is not in our cable package.
I hope cast and pins are removed on Monday. I’ve been compliant on taking extra Vitamin D and calcium to promote healing, as ordered, so i hope the fat lady sings.

December 18, 2010 at 12:11 pm #41025Drunken AngelParticipantJudging from the tour schedule, it look like Amos will be ending his tour at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta on April 9. I will definitely be there. See you there, tntracy?

If I wasn’t attending The Ryman show the night before, I would be knocking on Mr. Tracy’s door and drag him to that show, Drunken Angel. However, I’m eagerly waiting to look at Lu’s tour dates to squeeze in some Lu love. You must post a report.
