Disappointing that the Toronto shows involve pre-sales (Amex holders then North American resident Livenation subscribers) before the fans get a chance at the “good” seats. Making the trip from Scotland for these ones to celebrate our own 30th anniversary (wedding).
I see the scalpers are already doing business on Ebay and only 4 times the face value!

I agree. Generally speaking, I think pre-sales suck. Many of the tickets seem to ultimately end up in the hands of scalpers as opposed to actual fans. The only “legit” pre-sale, IMHO, is one that is open to fans only; how to regulate that is the challenge, however.

August 5, 2009 at 3:30 am #40377West WordsParticipantOkay, so yesterday I spent 4 hours unsuccessfully trying to guess the password for the Live Nation pre-sale for the NYC shows. Tonight I went back to try again, and now there is an additional pre-sale, this time for citi credit card holders. Fortunately, my son has one of those, and I was able to get my tickets for all 3 nights. 😀 I tried to pay with my own credit card (not a citi card), and it wouldn’t let me. My tickets were numbered in the low 100’s, so hopefully the venue won’t be sold out before they go on sale to the public. And I agree, I hate pre-sales unless they are geared to fans. Good luck, everyone. I hope a lot of us are able to make it to these shows. LP&R

Any idea where the show is in Mpls? Or when tickets might be available? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don’t think it has been officially announced as of yet, but I do believe it will be at First Avenue…

August 5, 2009 at 8:51 pm #40379LafayetteParticipantIn regards to the Chicago shows, my brother lives in the area, and his thoughts on the Park West venue are:
“The Park West is a great venue. Really not a bad seat in the place. Has more of a supper club layout, meaning the floor terraces up, and is wider rather than longer. It is in Lincoln Park, which is a nice area.”

Well, I do believe you are correct here, TN Tracy. Let’s see what other details might be forthcoming in future days. . . .

Are there seats there? I was under the impression it was GA.
I can’t decide which one I’d prefer for the Lu shows. Normally I would say GA all the way, but since I have to work and then drive 2.5 hours to get there, reserved seats would give me a better chance to get close…

Here is the seating chart link and information on capacity, etc from the website. A seating chart is provided, however, it is not eye friendly for those needing reading glasses. I couldn’t tell you if a GA floor is an option.

August 7, 2009 at 2:31 pm #40383tntracyParticipantWell, I just (finally) got my tickets to all three NYC shows, but I must say,
LIVE NATION SUCKS!!!!!
Tickets went on sale at 10:00 AM EDT. Sure enough, at 10:00 AM on the dot, the links for each of the individual shows, as well as the “3 Day Discount” option, at Live Nation went “live”. However, each time I selected the “3 Day Discount”, I received a “Sorry! A System Error Has Occurred!” message. I tried repeatedly for 10 minutes, getting the error message over and over. Finally, in frustration & desperation, I purchased each of the three individual nights separately out of fear that the shows would sell out before Live Nation would fix the problem.
Then, when selecting the individual nights, I (luckily) noticed that, two different times, Live Nation changed the nights on me!!! 👿 👿 That is, for example, I’d select the link for the Sunday night show (after having already purchased Saturday night – completing the transaction totally), but the Web site would place 2 tickets for Saturday night’s show in my cart. The same thing happened when I tried to buy Monday tickets – it gave me Sunday instead. Each time I had to reject the tickets and try it again. Luckily, in both cases, the second time worked, and I finally had all my tickets – 2 each for each of the three nights – after, however, paying a total of $75 IN FEES!
So, did anyone get the “3 Day Discount”? How much did I get screwed out of?
Tom
August 7, 2009 at 3:12 pm #40384paul_from_losangelesParticipantSo far, I have not purchased any NYC tickets (I may prefer Chicago), but to answer tntracy, I did get the 3-day discount screen to work. The price is 99.99 + 17 = 116.99. However, the 3-day discount delivery specifies as Will Call only. This compares to individual tickets as 3 x (39.50+12.50) = 156, with the individual tix allowing “Print at Home” and “US Mail” for free.
Perhaps, the 3-day “Will Call” is to discourage resales. I wonder what happens if a 3-day person skips the first show, and arrives at “Will Call” for the second show.
Note that Live Nation supposedly offers ‘No Service Fee Wednesday’, but by Wednesday, the shows might sell-out.

Thanks, Paul. Yeah, I just tried it, and now it works. So, I spent a total of $312 for the individual shows, vs. $234 (what I would have paid for two 3 day passes). 👿 👿 👿
Interesting about the 3 day passes being limited to will call. There is a definite benefit to me to get the hard tickets mailed to me (e.g., if anything should come up preventing our traveling to NYC, at least I call sell them on eBay) as opposed to being limited to will call, but I’m not sure it is worth $78… 😯

August 7, 2009 at 5:30 pm #40386LWjettaParticipantTnTracy admirably put it as follows;
LIVE NATION SUCKS!!!!!
I was looking for tickets for Oct.10/11/2009 Queen Elizabeth Theater in Toronto-on sale 10:00a.m. today
and couldn’t get decent seats on -line so I took 1/2 hour off work and went to the Ticketmaster/Live Nation outlet.
I now have two tickets for both nights in Row B Left orchestra ( 2nd row from the stage ) Yahoo! My point about Live Nation sucks are their outrageous fees.
Face value of each ticket is $42.50 CDN plus $16.00 of fees for a total of $56.50lwj

One would think that both online sales & physical outlet sales would be able to pull from the same database – after all, we live in a uber-connected world, correct? So, why couldn’t you have gotten those second row seats online? Makes me wonder about the times I have gotten tickets online for reserved seat shows before – could I have gotten better seats by going to a physical outlet? ❓

August 7, 2009 at 5:48 pm #40388stogerParticipantThanks for the scoop on the NYC shows, Paul and TN Tracy especially. I just browsed the Live Nation site, as someone who can make 2 shows but not 3. I come out a bit “ahead” by purchasing the two individually, though I chafe at 12 dollars 50 cents in fees on a single 39 buck ticket (x 2 nights). These are Atlanta-Tabernacle-like percentages, no, the very phenomenon that got Lu and Tom riled to start with? A relatively modest 17 bucks in fees obtains if one tries to purchase a 99 dollar pass, right? As much as I appreciate Lu’s and Tom’s efforts to speak up from the stage and give back in merch, it appears as if nothing much has changed in overall live nation policy. And I couldn’t sign in using my ticketmaster password and user name, which pisses me off further in light of this merger.
Paul, what’s the deal on Wednesday fees-free? Should I wait? Five days may mean sell-out.
Tom, yes you got screwed but at least you’re confirmed to head up that way, right?
I may just sit on it for a few hours (or days). Advice, anyone?
