  1. I’ve just bought Lucinda’s new album, which is fantastic. It is such incredible value, too.
    I love most of Lucinda Williams songs, but I think my favourite of all is “Greenville.”

    Is she ever coming over here to Scotland?

    • I downloaded the double album from I-tunes Friday 3rd Oct. And it exceeded my expectation. Buy it today. You won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait for Lucinda’s next U.K. tour. I enjoyed the last one.

  2. “Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone” is definitely a return to form displaying wonderful musicianship. The album is cohesive and atmospheric and does not sag or become fragmented like the double album format can suffer from. If it disappoints, it is perhaps the songs aren’t as developed lyrically as a lot of Lucinda’s previous albums. However, this means the album perhaps isn’t as dark as some of her previous works and will have a wider appeal.

    Definitely up there with the likes of West, Car Wheels & Essence, another addition to Lucinda’s impressive catalogue and a purchase I certainly don’t regret.

  3. I’ve been a Lucinda fan for many years and own most of her releases. In my opinion, Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone is her best yet. This is one of the very very few albums from anyone on which EVERY song is superb. All meat, no filler! I can’t stop listening …

  5. Overall I like the album, I play it a lot. Didn’t like it when I first heard it, but over time it grew on me. Still not sure about some of the Country songs, maybe I’m just not in the mood for them right now and they will appeal to me later. I am annoyed with myself that I downloaded it from Itunes and didn’t get it the actual album from Amazon because I didn’t get the album artwork and credits. I have every Lucinda album in my collection, including the reissued Car Wheels double and 1988 albums. I can refer to the sleeves and I do, so I am frustrated that I cannot read the sleeve for this new one and see who is playing. I read Tony Joe is playing, I have a lot of his albums. Great man in his big hat and growling voice. If there was a record shop near me I would go and get the album, but the nearest good one is a hundred miles away. I guess it’s on my to do list next time I’m up in the Big Smoke.

    • I just saw the Grammy nominations today and I’m appalled that this record which in it’s category has got to be “record of the year” hasn’t even been nominated !!!! I’m stunned, anyway Lucinda I’m looking forward to seeing you in Dublin.
