For those of you not on Facebook (ahem), the below was posted on Lu’s page:
INSIDE JOB –DISPATCHES FROM LU WORLD #1
Tonight kicks off the first night of the first headline tour in over two years and as with so many of us it has felt like a journey thru a long dark night. But it’s starting to feel like we are seeing some light—knock on wood. The feeling in Lu world is one of a brand new beginning, a new phase -we have added a fantastic new band member, Jim Oblon, on guitar and keyboards. Joining with longtime members Stuart, Butch and David this band will be take things to a new level. In addition we have been recording over 20 new songs and we hope to debut some of them on these upcoming runs.
Of course, not long after the above mentioned 2020 tour ended everything suddenly changed and the world will never be the same -and there was no exception in our world. It all began with a brush with a tornado at her house in East Nashville and then a week or so later was the beginning of the pandemic, and like so many of you we started seeing dear friends disappear. At the end of 2020 Lucinda suffered a serious stroke. A year ago at this time she was in a wheelchair and could not walk a single step without help. It is miraculous how far she has come and while she is still recovering, nothing is as healing as getting out and singing and playing these shows. Especially thinking of the difficult days of wondering if she would ever walk on stage again. Her recovery continues and nothing is as healing as getting out and singing and playing. We hope there is a measure of healing for those of you who can make it to these shows. They are going to be very special.
