Lu walks on and heads toward the chair (which I realize now is different from the stool of Salt Lake)

1 Steal Your Love (followed by “this is really a stand-up song, but. . .)
    2 Can’t Let Go
3 Bad News Blues (followed by Lu apologizing for her coughing and allergies, specifically the “cedar” allergies of Austin)
4 Drunken Angel (long afterword, including Lu clarifying that her version of the song was not used in the Ethan Hawke film, but rather the version by Alynda from Hurrah for the Riff Raff: “but that’s ok”)
5 World Without Tears (tour debut)
6 You Can’t Rule me (followed by “don’t blame me; I voted for Willie”)
    7 Out of Touch
8 Protection (Lu uses the “s” word for the first time this tour to describe her medical incident of November, adding that Lightin’ Hopkins is the source of the “I’m too mean to die” quote)
9 Righteously (Lu says before “I have to stand up for this one” and mentions Prince and Michael Jackson during)
    10 Honeybee (tour debut)
11 Take Me to the river (Lu mistakenly attributes authorship to David Byrne)

Wonderful. Best show of the three. She really is getting back. Few glitches.

Fantastic report as always, professor! Did you take notes, or is that all from memory?

BTW – saw a GREAT Patti Smith show in Minneapolis tonight (Saturday)!

    Fantastic night.

Lu really seemed to be in excellent spirits, and her voice strong.
The outpouring of support from the fans after Lu shared the reason for her sitting, getting assistance on stage etc., was fantastic to see.

    Bring on night 2!

Great peacock poster: could a Flannery O’Connor reference from the stage be far behind tonight or Monday?

Backstreets, I jotted notes immediately after Lu’s set, not during. EasyMike helped me remember stuff. Some quirky things came out of her mouth this show, as you can tell. By Knuckleheads, we may have a fully in-form Lu who will deliver 20+ headlining songs!

My 71st birthday is tomorrow and we have tickets to the 3rd Austin show. I am filled with joy Lu is well enough to be back in Austin singing for us again. 💕

    Night Two:

    1 Something Wicked. . .
2 Bad News Blues (with the “Don’t blame me; I voted for Willie” inserted this time into the actual lyrics)
    3 West Memphis
4 Lake Charles (Lu refers to her former Austin apartment with Clyde Woodward as the “Willie Hilton”)
    5 You Can’t Rule Me
6 Pray the Devil Back to Hell
7 Essence (with Charlie Sexton: Lu says “this will be ‘Essence’ like you have never heard it” before, and refers to herself as a “guitar sandwich” after, between Stu and CS)
8 Jesus Just Left Chicago (with CS: dedicated after to the late Dusty Hill)
    9 Joy (with CS)
10 Get Right with God (with CS)

    Songs 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 were tour debuts.

Lu stood up for songs 7-10.

One more to go on this Austin run. . .
